While ZTE isn't necessarily a household name in the smartphone space, it should be, as the company is making waves with its recent releases. The company released the world's first under-display selfie camera at the end of last year, and now it's making waves with the newly-announced Axon 30 Ultra.

What Makes the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Worth a Look?

The camera system is what really makes the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra worth your time. It features an impressive rear quad-camera setup with three 64MP cameras and an 8MP 5X periscope lens.

The primary lens comes with an extremely low f/1.6 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization, which will keep any movement out of your photos and videos. There's a 64MP wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. The third 64MP lens is called a "Superhuman" lens with a 35mm focal length and f/1.9 aperture.

That 8MP lens features a 10X hybrid zoom and Optical Image Stabilization.

All in all, it's a really impressive camera system that will rival those of far more expensive smartphones. It even does 8K/30fps video.

Surprisingly, the phone features a 16MP selfie camera in a center-mounted punch-hole cutout, meaning the company decided not to use the same under-display technology featured in the ZTE Axon 20 5G.

The phone comes with the Snapdragon 888 processor under the hood. It comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on the configuration you choose. The phone is available with up to 1TB of internal storage as well.

As for the display, it's a 6.67-inch curved OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. It has support for HDR10+ for those vibrant colors.

The battery is quite large, coming in at 4,600mAh. It features ultra-fast 66W wired charging.

There's Also a ZTE Axon 30 Pro

Along with the Ultra, ZTE also announced the ZTE Axon 30 Pro. It features a Snapdragon 888 processor with a 6.67-inch OLED screen, but the screen is a flat one with 120Hz instead of the curved option with 144Hz found on the Ultra.

The company also cut some corners on the camera system to get the price of the Pro down. It comes with a 64MP main camera and 64MP ultra-wide sensor, but the third 64MP camera and 8MP 5X periscope shooter are traded for a 5MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor.

The battery has also received a downgrade down to 4,200mAh with 55W fast charging.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra and Axon 30 Pro Price and Availability

The Axon 30 Ultra will be available in China at 4,698 yuan (about $720) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model and 4,998 yuan (about $766) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The top model features 12GB RAM and 1TB storage and costs 6,666 yuan (~$1,021).

The company announced that the phone would come to the US and Canada, which is a nice change of pace.

The ZTE Axon 30 Pro will retail for 2,998 yuan (about $459) base model and 3,598 yuan (about $551) for the top model.
