Having your internet go down sucks. And it always seems to happen at the worst possible time.

When your internet kicks the bucket, at least you can look forward to the fun little dinosaur running game that pops up in Google Chrome. It's a simple experience that sees you running from left to right, jumping over cacti until you fail.

The game isn't much more than a brief distraction until your internet comes back. But a group of modders have created a game called Dino Swords with a bit more depth that you can play anytime.

What Is the Dino Swords Browser Game

The Dino Swords browser game, which was first discovered by The Verge, was created in a partnership between MSCHF and 100 Thieves.

It takes the cute little dinosaur and gives him a huge arsenal of weapons to get back at those pesky cacti. There's a total of 26 weapons for the dinosaur to pick up as it runs across the level.

"Dino game is the final holdover from the golden age of things like Addicting Games and Miniclip games," Daniel Greenberg, MSCHF’s head of strategy, told The Verge.

Flash games aren't nearly as popular as they once were and this one feels like it's part of a dying breed.

100 Thieves owner and CEO Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag said:

Dino Swords is our take on the classic Chrome dinosaur runner game, made extravagant with 26 weapons to help your runs. Many of them pay homage to classic video game weapons, some of them are totally OP, and some are completely useless. There’s even a few easter eggs that are pretty hard to unlock.

According to the team behind the modded game, there are prizes out there for the best players in the world, which should provide some fun incentives to keep you coming back. Unfortunately, the team didn't reveal what the prizes will be, so we'll just have to wait and see.

A Throwback to the Old Days

Flash is on its way out, with Google soon dropping it completely. Hopefully, the end of Flash doesn't mean the end of fun little browser games like Dino Swords, because they'll always have a special place in our hearts.
