I got my laptop after June so i have the deal where windows 8 is only 15$. I'm just wondering if it would be productive to buy it. Since every other windows OS has been good i figured windows 7 will be good and 8 will fail. Am i just being overly worried and should i purchase it?

in my opinion you should buy it........ after reading so many reviews i thinks it is really good to use win 8

Buy now, but if your primary objective is stable, worry-free functionality, wait until the first service pack to install the Windows 8.Read below for my reasoningTypically, the first version a new release will have a number of issues that are corrected by numerous patches, many requiring individual re-boots. However, at some point, they'll bundle everything into a 'Service Pack' which will include all the fixes to date, and it's more efficient / automated than all the individual patches.NOTE: For Windows 7, the first service pack came out about 18 months after the initial release.

You may go for the upgrade instead of buying new!

I LOVE it...this is the first time I came across one product that make me feel connected and synched no matter which PC I use...at USD15, it's a steal, really!I've been using Microsoft Win Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 at the earliest possible (retail or MSDNAA/DreamSpark), and I could say that Win 8 blows them all.I recommend you to backup your Win 7 activation (there's tools available) before installing/ upgrading to Win 8. That way, should something bad happened or you don't like Win 8, there's always Win 7 for you.

I've read a lot of the reviews and it offers very few performance advantages over Windows 7. It comes with the added disincentive that your favorite apps may not be compatible with Windows 8. Also, Microsoft is
starting to charge developers money
in order to even make programs for Windows, so both open source software and freeware are going to be severely limited.Taken together, it means that Windows 8 will have a much higher total cost of ownership, although the price of the OS itself appears to fairly less expensive. MS's plan is to emulate the Apple model: if you actually want programs, that's going to cost us quite a bit more.Windows 7 will likely have a long life (unless Microsoft kills it early), so an upgrade at this point in the game isn't really necessary unless you are using hardware that's dependent on it.

just wait let the new os grow. Most important is that apps store. need to wait until more apps come in
2012-10-30 11:27:52
Yeah, Windows 8 is not bad but i think Windows 7 is much better for now.If another 6 months had passed.I think Win 8 will be better. So,basically you should wait a little more and don't be impatient because slow and steady wins the game.

Just go for it now, as it is too good a deal.
2012-10-29 18:01:29
yes it has lot of features that windows 7 lack of.
2012-10-29 06:01:14
Wow thank you all you have been so helpful =)
2012-10-29 05:29:23
first u should read the review of win 8,if u r a desktop user then its a good deal to buy win 8 coz it is more faster then win 7,but u can face problem with start button coz it doesn't have start button......but u can add start button by means of software.....................u can prefer this link for adding star button in win 8, if u buy win 8http://techexplanation.blogspot.in/2012/08/add-start-button-to-windows-8.html#.UI4ULG_Mg7c
2012-10-28 21:21:56
Buy it! You can set up your laptop to dual boot in 7 or 8 and pick the one you like. The look and feel are not the only changes in 8 as Microsoft has greatly improved diagnostic and maintenance components as well as security.

You can, as I have, buy the cheap upgrade and when you start the install choose to burn the iso to disk. That way you dont have to install it if you dont want to but you could try it and if you dont like it then re-install windows 7 and that way you will still have Windows 8 on disk should you want to install it at a later date.At the price it is silly not to as I think you will find eventually Windows 8 is the way forward.
2012-10-28 14:28:04
I'd say buy it now, but leave it a while before installing it as there will be drivers and patches and other glitches microsoft will need to fix, also not many apps/programs are ready for Windows 8 yet.
2012-10-28 11:34:09
Yup,I would definetly suggest you to take that deal.
2012-10-28 11:26:53
It's all up to you. But if you really have a touch device or mouseYou would really really benefit from the upgrade. But if you're a desktop user maybe you wont get used to it quickly, but the speed bump is great.Plus it's kind of cheap if you upgrade.Again, it's all up to you!
2012-10-28 11:26:28
I'd personally not take Windows 8 just now at the moment, but as you've a good opportunity I think you should take it mate ;)
2012-10-28 11:02:18
Windows 8 isn't that bad. It's just whether you'll be comfortable or not using it, and whether the apps you constantly use can run in Win8 or not.If you think you can learn to use the new UI, then go ahead. I suggest try it for a while so you can see by yourself if it'll be productive or contraproductive.

Although there have been many that have downed Win 8 before it even made it to retail, there have actually been some speed improvements and usability improvements over Win 7. There are ways to get rid if some Win 8 (formerly Metro) elements to make it look more like Win 7 and bring back the start menu. $15 just ty have it is fairly worth it, especially since it will be over $120 in the near future. If anything, you could always dual boot. You can try out the preview edition of Win 8, or use the $15 copy to dual boot your system using this tutorial: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2012070/how-to-dual-boot-windows-8-and-windows-7.html It takes time to get used to, but you might find yourself liking it better and better the more you use it. Some people won't, but many will.

It is quite subjective, just read some reviews about Windows 8 and see if you like it, especially the Metro workspace.
2012-10-28 03:57:19
If you think you might ever want to upgrade to Win8, go ahead and grab it. It is better than paying over $100 next year for it. And there is nothing that says you actually have to install it on that particular laptop.
2012-10-28 03:48:39
You should certainly grab the $15 upgrade deal. Windows 8 reviews are not bad at all. :)
2012-10-29 20:37:57
Yeah but Windows builds are not well known for their stability from the get-go. Think I will wait till the bugs get fixed.
