I'm using Windows XP. A couple days ago when I'm iserting thumb drive, my PC hang. I can't do nothing except to reset my PC.
I already tried uninstall the USB controller in device manager, so the PC can find automaticaly when rebooting. And seems the thumb drive is working for 1 time. After that it freezes again, although I repeat the process. Any Idea? Because this problem is the same with another thumb drive.

Some USB2 devices do not work properly on USB 1.1 ports, and some USB1.1 devices fail on USB2 ports. onboard usb cannot provide enough power then you need powered usb hub.Format the usb key and see if this solve the problem, also check your security settings to not conflict with inserted usb drives. Uninstall antivirus and see if this helps and reinstall again or choose another security solutionMicrosofthttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/310575

Hello, if both thumb drives freeze your computer when you insert them, there has to be something wrong with your usb port. Does the same thing happen when you try using a different usb port? have you tried using your drives on another computer?
