When I open the explorer then a slow green bar loads. It takes a long time to show the drives. When I then go to a specific drive, the folder icon is not shown, only name is shown. In that I have many music and video files! I use Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

Hello, do you know if windows indexing services are on? On windows 7, this is known as windows search. In order for you to try and disable Windows Search service you can use msconfig. To do so, follow the next steps:-- click on start-- type msconfig on search bar-- on menu, select services-- find and highlight windows search-- right click on highlighted entry and select disableOr, you could also do the following:-- start-- type services on search bar-- find and highlight windows search-- right click on highlighted entry and select disableWith regards to your icons, try to organize them for icons instead of names. You can use the folder options to change the way your folder look. To do so, visit the following link:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-folder-optionsAlso, you might want to try turning windows explorer off and then on. It might reset your explorer. If you turn the explorer.exe off, you will loose your desktop icons and task bar. Do not be afraid, it is easy to solve.-- right click on taskbar-- select task manager -- on menu, select processes-- find explorer.exe-- highlight entry and right click-- select End ProcessTo turn it back on, do the following-- click on ctrl + alt + delete keys at the same time or ctrl + shift + Esc-- on menu, click on File-- select new task-- on box that pops up, type explorer.exe-- click on ok
