Do you multitask a lot? If yes, then splitting your Windows screen can come in super handy. With the split screen feature of your Windows, you can easily divide your screen into multiple columns and rows—this will help you look over and manage numerous tasks at once.

Here’s how to split your screen in Windows 11.

How to Split Your Screen on Windows 11

Since Windows 10, Microsoft's operating systems come with a new feature called Snap Layout. It’s a neat tool that can help you multitask by letting you rearrange multiple window in different ways.

You can also split your screen through Snap Layout. Here’s how.

First, make sure you’ve not disabled the split screen feature on your PC. To check that, head to the Settings menu with the Win + I shortcut and select System.

From there, select the Multitasking option and toggle on the switch for Snap windows. Also, click on the drop-down menu in Snap windows and make sure all the checkboxes are selected.

Now that you’ve enabled the Snap windows feature, it’s time to test it out. Open any window through File Explorer and hover your mouse over the maximize icon on the top-right corner. As soon as you do this, you will see the Snap Layout options below it.

As you can see below, you have four Snap Layout options to pick from. In addition, each option has further configurations you can choose from. So select any of these arrangements, and you’ll be able to split your Windows 11 screen easily.

How to Split the Windows 11 Screen With Snap Assist

Snap Assist is another worthwhile Windows 11 feature that can help you split your screen. The feature becomes available as soon as you snap a specific window, or in other words, drag it to a corner till it auto-adjusts and fills up the space on its own.

You'll see all your windows as thumbnails; you can then pick the thumbnail you'd like to set as the second window. Here’s what it looks like:

Alternatively, you can also drag your window to a corner and take up that quarter of your screen.

Screen Splitting Your Windows 11

Dividing or splitting your PC screen into multiple windows can help you multitask. The feature can be helpful when you’re on a tight deadline. But as good as it is, multitasking—over a long period—isn’t healthy for either your health or even the quality of your work. So make sure using this feature is a once-in-a-blue-moon affair and not something you have to rely on often.
