Common Windows errors like the Blue Screen of Death can be quite frustrating. Windows encounter these issues when it faces an error that it cannot resolve itself, and they are more often than not associated with hardware or hardware drivers.

One such stop error is the win32kfull.sys BSOD, which typically pops up when you have compromised RAM, outdated drivers, or corrupt system files. Below, we have listed some effective troubleshooting methods that are likely to do the trick for you if you are facing a win32kfull.sys Blue Screen of Death.

1. Run the Blue Screen troubleshooter

Since BSODs are quite common in Windows, the operating system now comes with a BSOD troubleshooter that is specifically developed to identify the potential issues that might be causing the problem. If any issues are identified, the troubleshooter will recommend fixes and then apply them without a lot of user interference.

Here is how you can run the BSOD troubleshooter:

  1. Launch Windows Settings by pressing Win + I together.
  2. Inside the Settings window, head over to the Update & Security section.
    Update and Security section
  3. Then, choose Troubleshoot from the left pane and click on Additional troubleshooters on the right side of the window.
  4. In the following window, click on Blue Screen on the right side of the window.
  5. Select the Run the troubleshooter button.
    Run the troubleshooter button
  6. This should initiate a scan that will look for issues within the system. If it detects any problems, it will offer recommendations for fixing them. You will then need to click Apply this fix and wait for the process to finish.
  7. Finally, close the window and check if the error appears again.

2. Install the Optional Updates

If you started encountering the problem after installing a pending update, then the issue is likely to be caused due to the update. In cases such as these, Microsoft is typically aware of the issue and releases an update with a hotfix to fix the problem.

These updates are referred to as the "Out-of-band" updates and can be found in the Update & Security section of Windows Settings. If this scenario applies to you, follow the steps listed below to install the optional updates:

  1. Launch Windows Settings and navigate to the Updates & Security section.
  2. Select Windows Update from the left pane.
  3. Now, click on the View all optional updates link on the right side of the window.
    View all optional updates link
  4. In the following window, checkmark the updates you want to install and click on the Download and install button.

After you have installed the updates, restart your computer and check if the issue has been resolved.

3. Repair System Files

Another common reason behind the BSODs on Windows is the corrupt system files.

Your system's files contain a lot of information, arranged in a specific certain way so that it knows where everything is. In the event that the structure of information gets messed up or the file receives some incorrect information, the file will stop functioning properly and become corrupt. This applies to every type of file and document in your system.

With corrupted files, you are likely to run into issues like the one at hand. Files can become corrupt due to a number of reasons including update errors, system crashes, power outages, and malware.

Fortunately, repairing system files is easy, and the most efficient way of doing so is by running the SFC utility offered by Microsoft via Command Prompt. It will scan the system for corrupt files. If any files are identified, it will replace them with their healthier counterparts.

If running the SFC command does not work for you, try performing a DISM scan.

4. Update Drivers

You could be also facing the win32kfull.sys BSOD due to corrupt or outdated relevant drivers. Such drivers become incompatible with the system hardware.

Typically, the issue is related to the display and network drivers, but that is not always the case. In this method, we will be updating all the relevant outdated drivers to fix the Blue Screen of Death.

Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Type Device Manager in Windows Search and click Open.
  2. Alternatively, you can also right-click on the Windows icon on your taskbar and choose Device Manager from the context menu.
Device manager option from the context menu
  3. In the following window, expand every driver section and look for the drivers with a yellow exclamation mark against them.
  4. If you find any such driver, right-click on it and choose Uninstall device from the context menu.
    Uninstall device option
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed and once the driver is uninstalled, reboot your PC. Upon restart, Windows will automatically install the latest driver version.

In case you do not find such drivers, you can try manually updating the network driver as doing so did the trick for several users. Here is what you need to do:

  1. In the Device Manager window, expand the Network drivers option.
  2. Locate your network driver and right-click on it.
  3. Choose Update driver from the context menu.
    Update driver
  4. In the following dialog, click on Search automatically for drivers and if any update is identified, take your time to install it.

5. Check System RAM

Blue Screen errors are also often triggered by faulty RAM. If the methods mentioned above did not work for you, you can try using the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to determine if it is the RAM that is causing the problem.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Type Windows Memory Diagnostic in Windows search and click Open.
  2. In the following dialog, click on Restart now and check for problems (recommended). Your computer should now restart and upon reboot, the tool will begin its process.

  3. Click on F1 to open options and in the next window, click on Extended.
    Extended option
  4. Then, click F10 to apply the changes.

Windows Memory Diagnostic tool should now start conducting an extended test which will last for a few minutes. After the process is complete, click ESC to exit the tool.
