I used a SanDisk 4GB flash drive for ReadyBoost on a laptop about a year ago. That laptop has since died and I have purchased a new laptop. I want to use the ReadyBoost flash drive on my new laptop but my computer will not recognize it.
I have tried to reformat the drive but keep getting a message that the drive is write-protected. How do I fix the flashdrive so I can ReadyBoost it for my new laptop?

If I recall correctly any ReadyBoost capable Windows version will recognize that the flash drive was used for this feature and will do so too.I suggest you check the ReadyBoost settings on your new computer and make sure it is disabled for this flash drive.

if the driver gets installed but you cannot get into it, just use the disc manager in windows and use it to delete the volume and reformat it again!

1)download Gparted Live CD. Burn the iso image with Imgburn or other iso burning soft. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php http://www.imgburn.com/ 2)Boot the Gparted live CD with the USB flash connected 3)Select USB drive 4)Select the partition and then delete. 5)Create a new partition and reformat. You should format it as FAT32.
