Okay so I used the erase free space utility on CCleaner the other day. The way it works is to create a large file, approximately the size of the amount of empty storage space on your hard-drive. It overwrites it a few times then it's supposed to go away. I used it the other day and there was 20 gb less space on the drive than before I ran it. Any solutions?

Re run the task at 1 pass that should save time and sort the problem. never cancel the task in between.

I think CCleaner is storing extra files inside the app. You should reinstall

Uninstall the apps & install a new version of ccleaner & see what's happen. Beside u can use tuneup utilities it will tell you about the junk, temporary files as well as other issues if any.....

You don't need "cleaning apps" on the Mac. They can cause problems such as yours. you should delete Ccleaner to resolve your problem

Maybe you accidentally stopped CCleaner when the process was running so there was a leftover not overwritten in your machine. The best solution is to hunt down that useless data chunk and delete it manually.
