The popular multiplayer game Fall Guys has become completely free-to-play, but it's also disappeared from Steam. While PC gamers can still download and play Fall Guys for free, they'll need to use the Epic Games Store instead.

Fall Guys Says Goodbye to Steam

As was announced in May 2022, Fall Guys, one of the best cross-platform multiplayer games, became a free-to-play game on June 21, 2022. On the same date, Fall Guys became available on many other platforms, like the Nintendo Switch, adding cross-platform play and cross-progression features.

Unfortunately, not everything was good news. Fall Guys was also removed from Steam and became available exclusively on the Epic Games Store.

Why Is Fall Guys Not Available on Steam Anymore?

These changes came after Epic Games acquired Tonic Games Group in 2021. And in case you didn't know, Tonic Games Group is the parent company of Mediatonic, the developer behind Fall Guys.

Unfortunately, that means that Fall Guys won't be available on Steam anymore as Epic Games decided to move it to its own store. The good news is that if you're a PC gamer, you can still download the game from the Epic Game Store and play it for free.

This isn't the first time Epic Games has done this. In 2019, the company also acquired Psyonix, the developer behind the popular game Rocket League. Shortly after acquiring the company, Epic Games decided to turn Rocket League into a free-to-play title and make it available exclusively on the Epic Games Store.

What Happens if You Already Own a Steam Copy of Fall Guys?

As we mentioned before, new PC players can download Fall Guys for free via the Epic Games Store. But if you had previously downloaded the game from Steam, you have nothing to worry about.

PC gamers who already own a Fall Guys copy from Steam can still receive the same updates as new players who downloaded the game from the Epic Store. That means you won't need to download the game again or even use the Epic Games Store.

The Store Changed, but the Fun Stayed the Same

Even though you can't download Fall Guys on Steam anymore, you can still have fun with your favorite fall guys by downloading the game from the Epic Games Store. Not only that, but you can also pick up your game on a different platform, like a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, and you'll still be able to play without losing your progress.
