Often just as a new tab loads or i click a link the page blips to 'not responding' then comes back. it is back in about a blink f the eye so doesn't impede much but if it occurs when i click a link i have to re-click it.

More annoying than problematic, but it like to make it stop.

this started right after i installed the windows 7 update for remote desktop protocol 8. (KB2592687) and the most recent Microsoft security essentials (KB2310138)

It's like that in my laptop too. It can be because IDM is trying to capture download, you have too many tab open at once, your antivirus is doing background scanning, or you have a heavy background process.

It is quite possibly a Microsoft Essentials and Firefox conflict issue. There are quite a few threads on the web that discuss general performance issues with MSE. Try using Firefox by disabling MSE and using an alternate anti-virus instead.

It seems that it has to do with the scanning of links by Microsoft security essentials which affects the browser performance.Firstly, take a system restore point of your current state and then remove the update Microsoft security essentials - KB2310138.Restart your system and start browsing by opening new links in new tabs to see any affects.

Do a clean install of firefox, and than check this article, since it improves firefox speed:http://agaptos.blogspot.com/2011/06/8-steps-and-make-firefox-faster-than.htmlIt worked for me! Probably it will work for you too! Don't forget to back up your bookmarks!Sometimes firefox gets stuck again on my pc, but rarely! One thing to consider is also your computer specs! If your computer is running of low memory of RAM, than probably firefox will work slow!

Also forget to mention...Please try to install another theme. Don't leave it with the default one! Some themes that I installed worked faster than the default! Some I can suggest:NASA Night LaunchFT PureWhiteFXChromeI suggested this ones since they are lighter and work better with any version of firefox! You can find other ones if you search!

Try to update the Firefox, and not use the beta version, Use only the final version.

Try either uninstalling these updates to see if problem eliminated or reinstalling Firefox 16.02.
