I just got a new iPhone 4s. I need to transfer my apps to new iPhone. I am using iCloud but it keeps saying the iPhone is currently being restored. I've tried for over an hour, is this normal?

From what I recall, iCloud simply backs up your data (contacts, text messages, wallpapers, and passcode) the apps and music are backed up via iTunes onto your computer. However, the purchased apps are also backed up to icloud but not through the back-up, just as a confirmation on the app store that you purchased the app. This way, you don't waste 5 gb of your icloud space

it depends on your icloud space and iPhone connection and you have to enable icloud through settings and you can always buy extra space from apple.

Do not like to use iCloud. Sometime it can not work well. So I prefer free iPhone Transfer. Just like Syncios iPhone Transfer, it can backup Music, Video, Apps, Podcast, iTunes U, Ringtone, e-Books, Photos, Camera Roll, Voice Memos, Camera Shot, Contacts, Notes to your computer, seamlessly copy video, audio, image, etc. from PC to your iPhone and sync iPhone to iTunes.http://www.syncios.com/iphone-transfer.html

Have you previously used iCloud to backup your phone? Chances are your iPhone is still restoring from an iCloud backup which may take quiet some time depending on the amount of data and it's network connection (WiFi, 3G, ...).When performing a restore from an iCloud backup all apps and (purchased) music that used to be on the phone will be downloaded from the iTunes server. This can obviously add up to a lot of data.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859If you had like 10GB of data it may take up to a day for an iCloud restore to be finished.
