Apple usually holds an event between March and April each year to unveil some of its new products. In March 2022, it introduced the Mac Studio, the Studio Display, and a new iPad Air. In April 2021, it introduced the M1 iMac and AirTags, among others.

There are years when Apple doesn't hold a spring event, as is the case in 2020. Previously, insiders hinted that there could be an event in 2023, but the launch of a new iPhone 14 color suggests otherwise.

Apple Launches Yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus Models

In an Apple Newsroom post, the company launched a new yellow color option for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. This new color joins white, black, red, purple, and blue. There are no specs changes; it's just a new color to incentivize sales of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

Interested buyers can order it right now, and it will hit store shelves on March 14. In addition, Apple also introduced new colors of iPhone cases and bands for the Apple Watch.

This is not the first time Apple has done something like this. In 2021, Apple released the iPhone 12 in purple at its "Spring Loaded" event, and in 2022, at the "Peek Performance" event, the company announced a green color option for the whole iPhone 13 lineup.

Why We Shouldn't Expect an Apple Event Until WWDC 2023

Apple tends to release its iPhone models once a year, usually in September. However, since 2021, it has consistently released a new iPhone color in spring. This is likely a way to keep the media's attention on the iPhone throughout the year and not let it fade a few months after launch.

Ever since Apple started this practice, it used its spring events to launch new color options for the iPhone. However, this new iPhone 14 in yellow was announced in a press release. This leads us to believe there will be no spring event in 2023 and that the closest one will be the WWDC in June.

After all, if Apple had planned an event this month, why not wait for it to announce the new color as it has done in recent years? Of course, Apple is unpredictable and could announce an event at any time, but it would make very little sense. In any case, this is just speculation, and there is no official statement from Apple denying nor confirming the existence of a spring event.

A Loaded WWDC Event Might Be on the Cards

If it's true that there won't be a spring event, everything points to the annual WWDC event being loaded with new products and features. Some analysts predicted an event with the new Mac Pro, a 15-inch MacBook Air, and more in spring, but if Apple saves everything for June, we could be looking at a massive event.

Now, we just have to wait for things to unfold and see what happens, but at first glance, it looks very promising.
