There were days when practically the only food you could have delivered was pizza, but not anymore. Now, you can simply order food from an app on your smartphone and get any cuisine delivered to your door. Though they all work similarly, is one food delivery service better than the others?

Uber Eats

Uber originally made its name by providing a rideshare service. Through the Uber mobile app, you can order a ride, then an independent contractor shows up in their own car to take you to your destination. Once the company was well-established, it expanded into the world of food delivery.

In 2014, Uber Eats was launched, and it still remains the most popular choice for the job by many people. The delivery fees are consistently low, especially if you pay for a monthly Uber One subscription. There are great promotions to regularly take advantage of, for both food and grocery delivery. Most importantly, your food is almost always delivered on time or earlier.

The Uber Eats mobile app is incredibly intuitive as well. It’s easy to filter through nearby options to help you decide where to eat. You can sort restaurants by cuisine or dietary restriction to narrow down your options.

Grubhub

This may surprise you, but Grubhub was founded before both Uber Eats and DoorDash—in 2004. Despite being one of the first to break into the food delivery field, Grubhub doesn’t have nearly as many users as Uber Eats does, and it’s barely pushing ahead of DoorDash.

That said, Grubhub excels at offering its users the best offers, including promos for free delivery and more, coupons, and cashback deals. If you subscribe to Grubhub+, you get unlimited free delivery and exclusive discounts regular users won’t see. Also, because the company has been around for a while, the mobile app looks great and is super easy to navigate.

DoorDash

DoorDash was founded a year before Uber Eats launched, and the two services are pretty evenly matched. Uber Eats currently offers more competitive base pricing, but DoorDash has a lot of special deals within the app that keep its customers coming back.

There’s an Offers tab within the mobile app where you’ll find free delivery deals and coupons that take a percentage or dollar amount off your total. Then, if you order food frequently enough, you can invest in a DashPass subscription that gives you free delivery on every order and reduced service fees.

Which Food Delivery Service Is Your Favorite?

For many of us, the food delivery app we use comes down to what’s available for the restaurant we’re trying to order from. I use Uber Eats because it’s the most affordable option 99% of the time, at least for the restaurants I’m trying to order from. But I’ve also used Grubhub and DoorDash if they were the only option for a restaurant, or if they happened to offer a better deal at the time.

But what about you? Do you have a favorite food delivery service, or do you use a mixture of more than one?
