Audi's parent company, Volkswagen, is trying to establish itself as an EV powerhouse in the North American market. Part of this involves ensuring Audi is positioned as a strong contender in the luxury EV segment. And Audi is definitely making all the right moves with its robust lineup of EV vehicles, especially compared to rivals like Lexus that don't currently sell a full EV.

So, let's detail Audi's varied electric vehicle lineup, ranging from extreme sports sedan EVs all the way to electric coupe-like SUVs. If you're in the market for an Audi EV, you can't go wrong with our rundown of Audi's electric vehicle range.

The e-tron GT is Audi's ultimate manifestation of what an EV should be. And while many manufacturers offer full EVs, Audi is among the most forward-thinking brands in the automotive world, so you know their offerings will set the tone for years to come. The e-tron GT comes in two distinct flavors: the normal e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT.

Both cars are absolute beasts, but it just so happens that the RS e-tron GT is even more bonkers than the regular e-tron GT. The RS version of the e-tron GT puts out 637 hp (in boost mode) from its dual motors and achieves 232 miles of range from its 93 kWh battery.

The RS e-tron GT can accelerate to 60 mph in a blistering 3.1 seconds. Of course, the regular e-tron GT is no slouch either and manages the 0-60 mph run in 3.9 seconds. For most people, the regular e-tron GT is the sensible choice, especially considering it's around $40k cheaper than the RS model for similar performance.

The e-tron GT models come with three years of complimentary charging on the Electrify America charger network, which might not be a huge incentive for the demographic buying these vehicles, but it is nice to have nonetheless. A curious fact is that Audi's parent company Volkswagen owns the Electrify America network, and VW also happens to make cool EVs.

The e-tron GT models also feature insanely fast charging that can take the car's battery from 5% to 80% in approximately 22.5 minutes. The most distinctive aspect of the e-tron GT is its styling, which is more aggressive than its Porsche Taycan counterpart. The e-tron GT is arguably one of the most beautiful cars on the road today.

Audi's e-tron is one of the more stylish SUVs out there, and it is available in two distinct body styles. The normal e-tron is a low-slung, wide SUV that looks much more expensive than its price tag might suggest. The e-tron is also available as a "Sportback," which essentially means it's the obligatory coupe version of the SUV and as a sportier S model.

The standard e-tron starts at $65,900 and features dual motors and a 222-mile range from its 95 kWh battery. The e-tron's dual motors generate up to 402 hp with a special boost mode active. The e-tron S, on the other hand, is more expensive with its starting price of $84,800, but also much more powerful with its 496 hp and absurd 717 lb-ft (yes, you read right).

The e-tron S is also special due to its three electric motors, where one of them is used to power the front wheels, and the other two power the rears. The e-tron S is also avaible as a Sportback model, which is pretty standard at this point for luxury SUVs.

The Q4 e-tron is a more affordable alternative to the e-tron and e-tron S models. Just like its more expensive e-tron cousin, the Q4 e-tron is also available in standard body configurations, as well as a Sportback model. The Q4 e-tron starts at $49,900, and the range for the Q4 e-tron in standard body configuration is approximately 241 miles from its 82 kWh battery.

The non-coupe body style is also practical from a storage capacity perspective, featuring 53.1 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded. In terms of design, the Q4 e-tron isn't as svelte and mean looking as the e-tron, but it's still a decent-looking vehicle. The headlights look extremely futuristic and add to the EV vibe of the car, but the grille isn't as well-executed, especially compared to the e-tron.

In terms of performance the Q4 e-tron is no slouch. The vehicle is equipped with Audi's famous Quattro AWD, and it puts down 295 hp from its dual motors. The Q4 e-tron is also equipped with fast charging, and it's able to recharge from 5% to 80% using a DC fast charger in approximately 38 minutes.

The Q4 e-tron is also offered with 250 kWh of complimentary charging, obviously using VW's Electrify America infrastructure. This is a very important model for Audi, especially considering how important crossover SUVs are in terms of manufacturer sales volume in this segment. The e-tron and the e-tron GT are extremely desirable vehicles, but this model will be Audi's bread and butter.

Future Audi EV Models

The future is electric, and this also applies to sports cars. According to CNET, Audi plans to replace its halo sports car, the R8, with a fully electric model. Linda Kurz, Audi's head of product marketing for the Audi Sport division, explained that they want to "transform the R segment, and the R segment is going to be fully electric.

...the R segment is going to be fully electric. This is our job for the next decade

The current R8 is a beast, but it's powered by a massive V10 engine (that sounds glorious) which will most likely be phased out after the R8's run in its current iteration is over.

All-Electric Audi

Audi is clearly going all-in with their EV efforts, and they have a robust lineup already in place only bodes well for their future efforts. It will definitely be interesting to see what Audi has in store for its electric future, especially in terms of its R and RS performance sub-brands.
