I have a Samsung S Plus. It was working fine untill recently. Unfortunately the screen got damaged and I gave it for repairs, after which, all functions are working fine except Whatsapp. The application does not open and when i try to re-install the error I receive is " You need to sign in with your google account." I'm able to download all other apps normally. Please advise.

If WhatsApp is not working for you then its time to switch to Telegram. Telegram is same messenger app but its more secured and privacy centered.

it may be because of the acquisition of whatsapp by Facebook

Unlikely. Whatsapp is continuing to work as a separate entity, despite the purchase. Although your can install other apps, it's worth trying logging off Google Play, logging on again and removing the app, then installing it again.
