I have a general question. Let's say I bought a laptop (Dell, Toshiba, HP, etc.) that has a hard drive recovery built-in to the PC's boot menu.

My question - Which program (Clonezilla, Parted Magic or both) will let me clone ALL the current drive (and the recovery partition) from a standard HDD to a SSD?

Thanks :)

Most recovery programs can recover or copy your data easily but inbuilt recovery software and installation of windows os would not work even it was cloned

Parted Magic comes with Clonezilla built in, and both are capable of doing what you want. If the SSD is smaller than the original drive you'll have to do some re-partitioning first, however. I link to a PDF outlining this here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-clone-your-hard-drive/

Both the working installation and built-in recovery are device specific. Cloning everything would only make sense if the new device is of the same brand and model. If you are looking at two different devices you should be able to clone the Windows installation but would have to install all drivers for the new device manually – most likely you'll also have to repair the boot sector. I believe the best way to go about is to use Windows Easy Transfer to get the existing data on the new device.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/windows-easy-transfer

Clonezilla must be your option and it will also copy the recovery partition.Visit the link below for some information -http://www.howtogeek.com/97242/how-to-migrate-windows-7-to-a-solid-state-drive/
