If you need to share the information with someone else I would consider Google Docs (now part of Drive). Specifically you can have a spreadsheet and share it with others. What most don't realize is that you can create a simple form for populating the spreadsheet. Take a look at the following:http://support.google.com/drive/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=87809If you are having someone else enter the data share the form and then manually update the spreadsheet yourself. Either way it is an easy system to implement for little cost other than a little time. The best part you can share it with anyone as needed so no complicated access systems other than a Google account.

By the sound of what you want to do, I would have personally used MS Excel for it. I would have used Excel Forms for the input. However, the link provided gives you info on some free inventory management solutions on Windows : http://www.top5freeware.com/inventory-management-software-for-windowsAnother software i found (free) : http://www.stockiteasy.com/en/Fonctionnalites/Versions/Free-download-of-our-inventory-management-software-%7C-Download-%7C-Stock-It-Easy.html

This depends to a certain extent on the type of inventory. What are you counting?

At least by what she says, she wants to do, I do not think we even need Access here, just Excel with a bit of macro and using the Forms for input should do the trick. :D
