I am using YOUTUBE to edit my videos, they have got a pretty decent video editor. :D It can do what you mentioned in the comments. Though adding pictures is questionable.

You can use Windows MovieMaker, MovieMaker is easy to use for cutting some video parts, adding backsounds, musicsBut if you want more features on your videos, I suggest you Corel Videostudio ProHere's the trial, try it first :https://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7251228/type/dlg/sid/UUmuoUeUpU78459/https://www.videostudiopro.com:443/en/products/videostudio/pro/?pid=prod4900075&cid=catalog50008&segid=8100022&storeKey=ca&languageCode=en

You have fireworks and power director, as far as I know, these are very good ones! but if you don't need nothing very complicated, then use windows live movie maker, it can produce great videos although the limited features

To correct some of the commenters, there is Windows Movie Maker (6.x and older), and the newer Live Movie Maker. As far as using "Movie Maker," I would go for the older Windows 6.x Movie Maker instead of Live Movie Maker. The older version works well, and there are tons of add-ons that can be found for free to increase the visual effects capabilities. "Live" Movie Maker is quite capable of what you are asking, but "Windows" Movie Maker offers more.

It depends how much you want to spend, and how much functionality / flexibility you need. Windows Live Movie Maker is free with Windows, and is pretty good. For more complicated projects, I use Adobe Premiere Pro. It's VERY flexible - I rarely find something it can't do. There is a little bit of a learning curve, though.

As a Low-budget guy, I use two programs to edit videos: First, Windows Movie Maker to trim some videos. and Pinnacle Studio, to improve it. I know, Pinnacle is a cheapest/some complicated program, it's good for video editing.

If you're just composing clips and adding music, I'd say Ulead Video Toolbox or Windows Live Movie Maker is enough. Ulead has some interesting themes in particular while still being completely wizard-based. If you want anything more, like adding fancy effects, you can use something else. Freewares I recommend would be ffdiaporama or Windows Movie Maker (version 2,2.1, or 6). You'd be surprised how much effect can be achieved using WMM if you take a little time trying XML scripts made by those folks in windowsmoviemaker.net community. If you want effects that generally would be time-consuming like composite video (Video in Video) use Microsoft Expression Encoder. It's a built in feature and a little bit more versatile than the same feature in another editor.

Hi Carlos, You need to cut parts of videos and combine them, and also need to add some images and background music to the videos. As you are using Windows the best, easy to use and free tool is the Windows Live Movie maker. This down to earth tool is one of my favorite tool to edit and upload videos to Youtube. You can easily cut and combine videos, can add background scores, narration and photos from your collection. It can upload directly to Youtube or can save it your local harddisk as HD video. If you are so serious about video editing and looking for documentary and movie creation you need some advanced tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, cyberlink power director, corel video studio and Sony vegas movie studio, etc. But it cost more. If you are looking for a free alternative you can download and use Lightworks (http://www.lwks.com)-it is designed by editors, for editors. A free tool Blender (www.blender.org)-an open source 3D content creation suite- is also available. Some other free tools are t@b ZS4 Video Editor, Avidemux (a light weight tool), Movica, AVIedit, etc. You can find these stuffs using search engine. The premium stuffs are CyberLink PowerDirector,Corel VideoStudio Pro,Adobe Premiere Elements,MAGIX Movie Edit Pro, Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite,Roxio Creator,VideoPad,AVS Video Editor,Pinnacle Studio,Sony Movie Studio Platinum, etc. The list is too big and the tools are from basic to advanced. The advanced tools are very resource hungry, princely and need in depth study to get a good result. For a layman, Windows Live Movie maker and Avidemux is enough. Keep in mind that the knowledge in the tool you are using and editing skills decides your success. Knowledge is gained by learning and skill by practice. So stick to something that best suites you and try to master in it.

you could try Vreveal http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/edit-improve-videos-vreveal-windows/ (it's like the advance version of windowa live moviemaker)the tools and result are quite amazing if i could say pro: it's like the advanced version of moviemakercons: it's advanced, so you need learn quite a bit before you mastered itor if you like to try other web video editor service?i recommended you try animoto http://www.makeuseof.com/dir/animoto/the tutorial is easy enough for even a beginnercons: the free account only let's you make a 30 second video, if you want more you must upgrade (paid)pro: easy, simple, and the result you can even downloaded yourself or share through your soc media like facebook/twitter/ etcps: i've use both, and i reccomended you choose what feature that you really need the most before trying

Sony Vegas Pro 12.0 (Latest) is the best video editor

windows movie maker would be the best choice for your requirement! since you are just trying to compose a video it's enough.! I won't recommend to install adobe premier pro for you since it would be a waste of resources of you pc.

For the kind of editing you describe (essentially "splicing" a film together), I give add my vote to Windows Live Movie Maker (called just "Movie Maker" on some machines).

It depends. There are many different video editing programs to choose from. It just depends if you just do normal videos, or you need a powerful video editing solution. I recommend these:Camtasia Studio: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.htmlLightworks: https://www.lwks.comAdobe Premiere Pro CS6: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.htmlTry those out. Those are the ones I recommend, and they are very powerful.

Sony Vegas is also good.

The most capable free video editing system has got to be
Lightworks
. It is used by Hollywood moivie studios for their editing needs in movies such as "The King's Speech", "Bruce Almighty", "Notting Hill", "Pulp Fiction", and dozens more.
