I'm wondering if there are anything like wiki (user generated contents) that make up a collection of DIY projects and the discarded materials used. for example, if i have a semi broken tripod, the website would list down DIY projects that someone had done or discussed in the past that involve a broken tripod.

That is a great idea for a website, if one doesn't exist. It seems to have a slightly different niche than the others mentioned here.
