I want a software or app which can highlight text, OCR if it is a scanned PDF and add signature. I am really surprised that there is no powerful software for the same in Linux.

Please, please help!

Give a try to PDF Studio, there is a demo availableIt has everything you asked for. And, as a java app,, it runs on Linux but also Mac and Windows and you can use the same license on 2 computers:www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio/

Try pdfXchange. It installs on Linux using wine and is very comparable to Adobe Acrobat in terms of editing features for pdf. I don't know if it can do OCR for scans though, have never tried it.

Okular is a great program. However, it is designed for KDE desktop while Ubuntu uses Gnome/Unity as the desktop. Installing Okular on Ubuntu will also install hundreds of megs of KDE modules. PDFEditor or pdfedit are designed for Gnome so they will not install unnecessary modules.

Sharan,Why don't you install WINE on Linux, to install and take advantage of the Windows applications? After you have installed WINE, then probably you can try the PDF solutions from Foxit on it.

IMO it would be best if Sharan used a native Linux solution. Installing WINE so a Windows solution can be used adds two layers of software where problems can arise. The simpler the solution, the better. WINE and Windows should be used only if there are no Linux programs able to do the job.

The one which is most popular in the software center. I always follow this rule. Whenever I have to find the best just let the provider gives you and generally it is the "first" result having 4.5 star rating out of 5. You can also read users' reviews. Only search for 'pdf editor'.
