If you love gaming so much you wish you could do it in your sleep, Pokémon Sleep might be the perfect game for you. Many of us have irregular sleep schedules and struggle to maintain a healthy sleeping pattern. Pokémon Sleep aims to change that and make sleeping a more enjoyable experience.

By turning going to sleep into a game, there is a good chance that Pokémon Sleep could improve people's sleeping cycles by transforming it from a chore into something players might even look forward to doing.

What Is Pokémon Sleep?

There are many apps that aim to improve your circadian rhythm for better sleep, and now The Pokémon Company has developed its own spin on the concept. Pokémon Sleep is a mobile game scheduled for release on iOS and Android devices. There are a couple of main characters, Professor Neroli and, of course, the sleepiest Pokémon of all, Snorlax.

Essentially, you enter your sleeping information into the app just before you go to sleep. The app measures your sleeping cycle and categorizes it into three different sleeping styles. Dozing, snoozing, and slumbering.

When you wake up in the morning, Pokémon that share the same sleeping pattern that you had the night before will have gathered in your game, so you can catch them. Every Pokémon has a number of different sleeping styles, and, like all Pokémon games, your main goal is to catch 'em all.

How Could Pokémon Sleep Help Me Improve My Sleeping Pattern?

The main mission of the game is to get the user more interested in sleeping. By getting a better night's sleep, you will attract better Pokémon. It essentially is providing an incentive or a reward for getting a better night's sleep.

As it stands, some people are less likely to work on improving their sleep schedule because there is no driving force behind them doing so. Many Pokémon games are almost addictive in nature, and the drive to complete your Pokédex can be undeniable. Pokémon Sleep gives players a reason and motivation to finally start working on their sleeping patterns.

In the same way that writing down your budget can help you save money, having a visual representation of the quality of sleep you are getting every night could also make you more aware of the reality of your sleeping pattern.

It will undoubtedly be one of the easiest Pokémon games to master, since all you have to do to play it is sleep. But regardless of its difficulty, the game's positive intentions could make it the next best Pokémon companion app to make it to mobile devices.

The game also comes with an optional controller in the form of the Pokémon GO +. This is a small Poké Ball-shaped object with a button in the center. Rather than picking up your phone and logging into the app to enter sleep data, you can just push the button instead.

These sorts of controllers are always optional, but it does make the process marginally easier, and the lullaby Pikachu sings when it's time to go to sleep would be adorable. You can also use it to play Pokémon GO. So if users often play both games, purchasing the controller becomes more worthwhile.

When Can I Get My Hands on Pokémon Sleep?

Pokémon Sleep was originally planned to release in 2020 but has since been pushed back. It has yet to receive a solid release date, but the game is estimated to hit the virtual shelves of the App Store and Google Play Store sometime during the Summer of 2023.

The Pokémon GO +, on the other hand, does have a solid release date. That will release on July 14, 2023. The optional controller does have multiple uses and can be used to spin Poké Stops and catch Pokémon in Pokémon GO, so that is more than likely the reason why it will be released earlier than Pokémon Sleep itself.

A Good Night's Sleep Could Be Just a Pokémon Game Away

The Pokémon Company has been committed to introducing games onto the market that also encourage healthy behaviours. Pokémon GO inspires players to start moving and walking around more, and now Pokémon Sleep has been created to help users improve their sleeping patterns.

It’s a nice change of pace from many games that revolve around distracting your mind from the things that are healthy for you, and hopefully, these games are not the last ones that focus on mindfulness.
