Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained significant recognition in recent years, and many people are using it to great effect. The technology is useful for finding answers to questions, reducing the amount of manual work you need to do, and much more.

With over 20 million users, Notion is one of the world’s most popular productivity apps. Towards the end of 2022, the company started experimenting with a new tool called Notion AI. And now, users worldwide can access the feature. But what exactly is Notion AI? How can you become more productive with this tool? Let’s find out.

What Is Notion AI?

Notion AI was developed by Notion to help you become more productive within the app. The tool has been designed for many people, including students, creatives, and professionals in other roles. You can also use Notion AI to great effect if you use Notion for personal reasons instead.

Although Notion initially created a waitlist when it began testing the software, you no longer need to join it. Once you’ve signed up for a Notion account, you can start using the tool.

Is Notion AI Free?

Notion is offering users the chance to try its AI tool for free until April 5th, 2023. If you take up this offer, you can try 20 responses per user. However, once you’ve used your commands, you must subscribe to a paid plan.

The amount you pay for Notion AI depends on your subscription type. If you have a paid plan and pay annually, Notion AI will cost an extra $8 per month. But if you pay monthly instead, you’ll pay $10 per month instead.

If you only have a free Notion plan, don’t worry; you can still use the newly-launched feature.

How Can Notion AI Improve Your Productivity?

Before you decide whether Notion AI is right for you, knowing how it can improve your productivity is a good idea. In the sections below, you’ll find the top tools that will help you complete your daily tasks more efficiently.

1. Summarize Pages

One of the most tedious tasks after completing a college assignment or hosting a meeting is needing to summarize everything. And in some cases, you might spend hours doing this. With Notion AI, however, you can simplify the process.

Notion AI has a tool that lets you summarize the notes you’ve written on pages within your article. After prompting the app to create a summary, you’ll receive a quick overview of the content on your page. You can then share that information with everyone that needs to see it.

2. Translate Pages

Remote and hybrid work have become more popular in the 21st century, and this sometimes means working with teams in different parts of the world. English isn’t everybody’s first language, and some team members might find it easier to get an overview of things in their mother tongues.

Notion AI has a handy tool that helps you translate pages into 14 different languages. These include Korean, Italian, Dutch, German, and Vietnamese. As you can see from the example below, we’ve translated something simple into Dutch.

3. Fix Spelling Errors

Even if you’re only writing a first draft, writing is a demanding task. However, many people don’t check over their work when they’re finished. Regardless of whether you’re putting together a blog post or an email, typos look unprofessional and can result in others not taking you seriously.

While going over things with your own two eyes is a good idea, humans can and do make mistakes. Using a grammar-checking app can help you catch things you otherwise would have missed, and Notion AI has a tool designed specifically for this.

After choosing the Fix spelling & grammar option, Notion will go through your work and check for mistakes. Once you’ve decided everything is good to go, you can use your writing however you intended.

4. Change Your Writing Tone

As you write more frequently, you’ll slowly develop a unique style over time. But in some cases, you might need to make some adjustments. Not every audience wants to read the exact same thing—for example, a short tweet will read differently from a 3,000-word article.

Notion AI has a tool that helps you change your writing tone. You can choose between five options: professional, casual, straightforward, friendly, and confident. Decide on which you think is the most appropriate choice for your specific task and change it to that.

5. Ask for Explanations

Have you ever received a message or document, but you’re not entirely sure what it means? Chasing for responses can sometimes be time-consuming and hinder the progress you’re trying to make on your task.

Notion AI has a tool that allows you to ask for an explanation if you’re unsure about something. Should the feature not clarify things as you’d like, you can always reach out to the original creator or sender—but it’s often quicker to first try and find the answer on your own.
