With the iPhone 13 expected to release in September 2021, there are tons of rumors giving us an idea of what to expect from Apple's new device.

Will it be a massive redesign? Or will Apple drop the new iPhone with minimalistic changes? Let's take a look at what we suspect you can—and can't—expect from the upcoming iPhone 13.

Of course, we don't know much of this for sure, but these are our best guesses based on the current information available.

Name, Lineup, and Release Date

Is the iPhone 13 truly the next iPhone? From what we've heard, Apple may as well be changing its name to iPhone 12S instead. The last time Apple used this format was in the iPhone X series, and it looks like it's about to make a comeback this year.

Moving forward to the lineup, there's no news of a change from the 2020 options yet. The same four sizes are expected to be a part of the lineup: a 5.4-inch mini, a 6.1-inch, a 6.1-inch Pro, and a 6.7-inch Pro Max.

We'll find out for sure in September 2021, which is the expected release date for the iPhone 13. Apple has followed this pattern of release for most of its previous iPhone launches too.

Colors And Price Points

iPhone 12 colors.

It is a tradition for Apple to launch a new iPhone series with a brand new color option. Along with the current black, white, green, blue, and (PRODUCT)RED, the iPhone 12 came out in a stunning purple in April 2021 in the Spring Event.

Recent rumors around the internet have suggested that the iPhone 13 may come out in a Rose Pink color for its conventional color addition. However, the release date for this color is predicted to be at the end of 2021 instead of in September. Apple has yet to shed light on this rumor, so don't get your hopes up yet.

As far as prices go, they are expected to be more or less the same for all the four corresponding models compared to the previous generations of iPhones. Following the same route, the iPhone 13 mini would be priced at $699, iPhone 13 at $799, iPhone 13 Pro at $999, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max at $1099.

There's always a chance of variation, but it will most likely stick close to the aforementioned pattern.

Camera

A quick overview of all the leaks indicates that the new iPhone 13 cameras will have optical stabilization, a thicker surrounding frame, a single sheet of glass covering all the lenses, more protruding cameras, and an extremely wide-angle lens.

Optical stabilization will allow you to take higher-quality photos when zoomed in. It will also improve the auto-focus capability of the iPhone 13, giving a new definition to close-ups and portraits.

The purpose of the thicker camera module remains unclear, but it will result in the lenses protruding less than they did while the camera itself will protrude even more than the previous versions. The thicker camera framework will also cause the iPhone 13 to be slightly thicker than the iPhone 13.

A sheet of glass over all the lenses will provide protection and allow the iPhone to lay flat instead of it remaining uneven on a surface.

The ultra-wide-angle lens seems to be the most significant change involving the camera. It will result in a drastic improvement in wide-screen nightlife photography if incorporated in the iPhone 13.

Due to the wider aperture of the lens, more light will enter through the camera. An increased amount of light received by the camera sensors will result in higher-quality photos, even at night or in a darker setting.

While all these changes are expected, we're unsure which of the four models will acquire which feature. The ultra-wide-angle lens may only appear in the Pro models, while the more prominent and thicker camera module is expected to be widespread across the entire generation.

Display and Notch

Some leaked images of the iPhone 13's display panels have been spotted, and the images feature a smaller notch than the iPhone 12. The smaller notch will be a result of two changes: Apple will move the earpiece from the notch to the top bezel, and the Face ID chip will be incorporated into a single, smaller unit.

Some technical upgrades to the display are expected to increase device efficiency and allow smoother scrolling, but no notable change has been confirmed yet.

Overall Design

Every leak, rumor, and reputable source points to the fact that the overall design of the iPhone 13 will have none to minor changes compared to the iPhone 12.

The one comparable difference will be the slightest increase in thickness in the body and the camera module. The increase in thickness is expected to be very slight, and its reasoning is yet to be disclosed. Some analysts think it may be to allow larger batteries within the iPhone 13.

Apart from this, there's not much change that is expected in the iPhone 13. This is understandable since the iPhone 12 generation had huge hardware revamps, and the dust is now just settling. The iPhone 12 was a huge success for Apple, and Apple will do its best to capitalize and carry on its hype for as long as possible.

Completely Portless?

iPhone charging port.

A series of rumors suggested a massive change in the iPhone 13: the complete removal of the Lightning port from the device.

Apple would have to incorporate lots of changes to switch from the lightning port to MagSafe charging, which is wireless charging with the help of magnetic technology.

However, these rumors were squashed by several reputable analysts, claiming that the switch is nearly impossible for the iPhone 13. The change may be made in the next iPhone generation, but the 2021 models will most likely continue with the traditional lightning port.

Biometrics

On screen Touch ID.

Apple introduced Face ID with the iPhone X series, and the change created a buzz in the tech industry. Unfortunately, the success of Face ID was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which made masks a necessity for the global population.

While Apple recently released a new feature that helped you to unlock your iPhone with a mask on, the feature required an Apple Watch to function.

Certain leaks say that an on-screen fingerprint sensor will be incorporated into the display of the iPhone 13, which will be a welcome change in the current situation.

A Complete Picture of The iPhone 13

All the rumors and leaks create a pretty clear picture of what we can expect from the iPhone 13. The design will likely be pretty much the same as before, but some minor changes certainly make the launch exciting.

Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the prospect of a pink iPhone 13, and an improvement in nightlife photography along with Touch ID would be a massive upgrade. We'll have to wait until September 2021 to find out.
