Twitter is better as a fresh news portal and directing traffic. Facebook contrasts in that it still reigns as the king of relationship-building.Facebook users, though with timeless information and sharing, doesn’t always make for the best source of original news.

Twitter only allows you to use 140-characters.Therefore there will be a lot of shortened url in twitterIn Facebook, you can use as many words as you like.In fact, you can even write a short story in itBoth are social but twitter is more like a site to share link while facebook is a one-stop for game, chat, business, reminder & many other featuresSince Facebook has more integrated features,it will also give you more spam and annoying post while in twitter the new tweet will replace the old one quickly, which means you will have to do a lot of scrolling or advance search to find old tweet

You can do alot more with facebook such as photo albums and share more information about yourself with the about me part. However twitter has its good points considering you can post as many tweets as you like cause thats what twitter is for. If you were to constantly post statuses on Facebook like people tweet it would begin to get annoying.

Both help social interaction but in different ways!Twitter is what is called a micro-blogging platform in that it functions like a blog but only in 140 characters chunks.Facebook is a more spacious complete exchange platform that permits longer discussions, photo exchange, ETC ...

Twitter is defined as a microblogging site, where you can use 140 characters to share anything. Facebook is an all encompassing social network. Thus the major difference is in their methods of communication. Facebook is more passive and Twitter is more active in the way you engage with your network of contacts. To quote an analogy - Twitter has been likened to a giant party where you know no one but wish to make many friends. In contrast, Facebook would be a wedding reception filled with family and friends.
