What is it that sucks about ATutor? It looks a lot easier to use than moodle.

We ought to disclose at this point that you are working for ATutor according to your email address (which is not publicly displayed). My reasoning:1. Look at the homepage. A professional design is usually quite indicative of the quality of the system it promotes. In short, the Atutor site is clearly in need of an update and some loving care. Moodle on the other have taken the time to produce a functional and attractive site. 2. Anyone who spends 5 minutes with the demo of atutor and moodle will be able to make their minds up quite easily:http://atutor.ca/atutor/demo.phphttp://demo.moodle.net/There are those who would certainly disagree with me though, like this good comparison: http://odin.agr.unideb.hu/SU2006/presentations/Education&E-learning/23_Lengyel.pdfBear in mind, thats 4 years old though, and things have moved on a lot in 4 years. As it stands, I have experience with Moodle in a university setting and can thoroughly recommend it. There is no one here to recommend ATutor, other than employees of the company. My initial "it sucks" was perhaps a bit hasty though, I apologise. Both systems have their merits, but I would advise you to try out the demos for both and make your own mind up, as I'm confident we'll come to the same conclusion.

ATutor sucks - the industry standard open source learning platform is Moodle. You will need your own hosting ofcourse - you cant reliably host on your own PC. http://moodle.org/Source: I was teaching English at university level for 3 years, and used this extensively. It takes a lot of learning though, for you. It's a very in-depth system and lots of extensions available. You can administer all kinds of tests, quizzes, lesson plans, exam scores, and even give students their own blog.

Hello, the following is a possibility for you.  It is not a website though.    You will need to install XAMPP in your computer.  XAMPP is an Apache distribution that contains MySQL, PHP and Perl.http://moodle.org/XAMPP:http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html  Also, ATutor:http://atutor.ca/atutor/Downloads:http://atutor.ca/atutor/download.phpRequirements:http://atutor.ca/atutor/docs/requirements.phpMake sure to check for installation requirements.
