How to Watch the 2022 Formula One World Championship Online

If you want to keep up with this year's Formula One World Championship in the United States, a few platforms feature the channels that own broadcasting rights. More specifically, in the US, ABC and ESPN are taking over the broadcast, so we will help you find the exemplary service to enjoy the races. There's also the option of F1 TV Pro, which is only available online. Let's see which option is best for you!

F1 TV

F1 TV

F1 TV is a service that allows you to watch Formula One races live and on-demand while also giving you access to onboard cameras, team radio, and live timing. Furthermore, the subscription also comes with access to F2, F3, and Porsche Supercup, making this the perfect option for racing fans.

There are several subscriptions available. F1 TV Pro costs $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year and comes with a 7-day free trial period. There's also F1 TV Access, which costs $2.99 per month or $26.99 per year, but this subscription only provides on-demand coverage, meaning no live races.

F1 TV is available in most countries around the world, but the subscription rates will vary by region.

YouTube TV

YouTube TV

Another excellent option for watching Formula 1 this year is YouTube TV. This service features over 85 channels, including ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, for all those practice rounds. In short, by cutting the cord and subscribing to YouTube TV, you'd get access to many channels and watch all the Formula 1 you want.

The subscription costs $64.99 per month, but YouTube TV sometimes has limited-time offers where you get to pay $54.99 for three months. YouTube TV works on pretty much all platforms, including smart TVs, iOS and Android devices, Xbox One, PlayStation, Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV, to name a few.

Hulu + Live TV

Also featuring ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, Hulu + Live TV comes with over 75 channels in its plan. Furthermore, the $69.99 per month subscription brings live TV to the table and access to Hulu's on-demand library, Disney+, and ESPN+. Like Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV provides access to all the Formula 1 Grands Prix and tons of extra content.

If you want, you can also get extra add-ons to your subscriptions, including premium networks like HBO Max or more DVR storage space. You can watch Hulu + Live TV on iOS, Android, smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, etc.

How to Watch Formula 1 for Free

For those always looking for extra ways to enjoy all the content, we have a free option for Formula 1, but it will involve using a VPN. Since VPNs are tools that route your internet connection to make it seem like you are in a different country, you can ideally use one to appear in Luxembourg. Why Luxembourg? Well, that's because RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, the channel with broadcasting rights for Formula 1, provides a free stream for anyone in the country.

Obviously, if you live in the United States, you won't get access to it directly. However, you can bypass the geographical restrictions with a VPN. And if you don't already have one, our recommendation is to go for ExpressVPN or CyberGhost, both of which have Luxembourg servers. Here's what you have to do to watch Formula 1 for free:

  1. Subscribe to a VPN and install its app. Power it up once that's done.
  2. Choose a server located in Luxembourg and wait a few minutes for the connection to be established.
  3. Once that happens, visit the RTL website and click on the play button when the next F1 Grand Prix is on.

Using a VPN will also work if you choose one of the other ways to watch F1 online, especially if you plan to travel abroad when during one of the races. You'll just have to choose a US server instead.

Cut the Cord and Watch Formula 1

If you only want to watch Formula One, you can use F1 TV, as it's excellent value for money. However, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV are fabulous options with cool channel selections for those who're planning to cut the cord. Of course, going the Luxembourg VPN route is also a great idea if you don't want to spend any money.
