I don't know if I can watch 3D movies on my Dell Inspiron laptop. Is it possible?

I have an Inspiron 1564 with the Intel HD Graphics card. I read that this can do 3D, but I'm not so sure. I have an HDMI->VGA converter box. Will that work to output the signal to a 3D ready projector? Thanks.

Not enough information I'm afraid. It depends on what kind of 3D you want t output - SBS videos, or gaming? Also, which projector? I think the HDMI->VGA converter will be a problem too. 3D generally requires HDMI - at least on my TV it does. If it only get VGA signal, it wont give the 3d option, regardless of whether it is actually an SBS movie that would work in 3d.

Can I watch 3D movies on Dell Inspiron 518?

Not on the monitor that came with your Dell, no. It also looks like you won't have a dedicated graphics card. You would need to install an NVidia or ATi graphics card upgrade, then get some kind of 3D display device like a 3dtv or specialised monitor.

I'm going to assume you mean Inspiron 1564 as I cant find any reference to 1565. Unfortunately, it looks like you have a built-in intel graphics card, which defininately wont be enough to drive any 3d games. There's a few different specifications available for that model though, so perhaps you could confirm which graphics adapter you bought with it. Either way, it cannot be upgraded, but if you have a dedicated graphics chip in there (as opposed to built-in intel one), then you may be able to play some older games in 3d (forget anything new though).

No, you can't. Your laptop screen doesn't do 3D.If you consider 3d to be red/blue fake 3d then sure, any monitor or laptop screen can't o that, since it isn't actually 3d and the effect is quite lame. Or if you connect it to an external display capable of 3d and combine it with some appropriate 3d drivers such as tri-def, the yes, it can do actual 3d. Though I suspect you meant via your laptop screen...

yes you can .in fact there are softwares , which can convert any video into 3D and then you can enjoy them on your normal existing laptop or pc without any fuss .check here - Convert your 2D movies to 3D ( http://www.techishare.com/tech-i-share-giveaway/convert-2d-videos-to-3d-converter/ )

Then he can watch really bad converted-3d movies using fake 3d viewing techniques on laptop not capable of real 3d. Amazing!

What's wrong with the laptop?
2011-10-27 07:29:00
Nothings wrong with it as such, but I'm fairly certain he's refering to what most people define 3D as being active shutter glasses or passive polarized - the only real kinds of 3d we have today. Obviously, anyone and their mum can do red/blue comic book 3d, but the effect *does* suck. As such, his laptop screen cant display either passive or active 3D - so while the video card could theoretically output 3d signal to a 3dtv, he cant actually display that on his laptop…. So I'm going with a no answer to save confusion.

Depends on how 3d videos are created, You can watch 3d videos on Youtube on any monitor wearing 3d glasses.

Yes, the default graphics card for the Dell Inspiron 1564 (ATI Mobility Radeon 4330) is in fact capable of three dimensional output.

But the laptop screen isn't...
