I want program that can convert from any video format to others for Ubuntu. Right now I use VBox to install windows XP to convert my video. I use "Any Video Converter 3.5.2". I want program like it on Ubuntu.

It seems that I have only heard of only one converter which supports Ubuntu, and that is Handbrake.

Hi.I'm currently using XUbuntu for my work. And I use Arista Transcoder for my video work. So far it's managed everything I've thrown at it and converted flawlessly. Don't know about Any Video Converter so I can't comment on whether the interface looks similar, but the thing definitely works. I think from the technical point of view it's a frontend more than a standalone converter, but I could be wrong.Dave

The top transcoders from Linux are Handbrake, ffmpeg (command-line tool), and MediaCoder. If you don't like the command-line for ffmpeg, you can use WinFF which is a GUI front-end for ffmpeg. it can be installed from the command-line with: sudo apt-get install winff. It will install libav-tools (which contiains ffmpeg) and other dependencies automatically or you can find WinFF in the Software Center.

I usually use a software known as HandBrake. It is available for Windows, MAC and Ubuntu. The page is http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php .
