I mistakenly 'opened with' an .exe file in Adobe Reader. Now all the .exe files open in Adobe Reader. All program shortcuts are also not working due to that. There is no option to open the program by default. How can I solve dis problem? HELP ME!

i m using window7 and registry editing is also disabled , and i m not able to enable it.cmd is also not starting due to exe problem.....

My bad, I wasn't thinking. Of course you cannot use the tool when .exe files aren't working!Here are instructions for Windows Vista, which should be almost identical for Windows 7:http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/165/1/Restore-the-exe-file-association-in-Windows-Vista-after-incorrectly-associating-it-with-another-application.htmlHowever, if you are a limited user and cannot edit the registry, this is going to be very difficult to fix. Can you log in as administrator?There is another way to change file type associations in Windows 7, however, as far as I can see it won't let you remove an association, you can only replace it. Since you have this issue with .exe files, there is not other program you want to assign to this extension.

Rajeev,the quickest way to fix this is to change a registry setting.In case you're running Windows XP, you can use a tool, which can be found
