Twitter has banned an account that was posting updates from Donald Trump's new blog. The account, @DJTDesk, was removed for violating Twitter's ban evasion policy.

Twitter Bans Account Posting Trump Updates

As shown by a Tweet from Brandy Zadrozny, a senior reporter at NBC News, @DJTDesk existed solely for linking to Trump's latest posts from his new blog, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.

The account's description read: "Posts copied from Save America on behalf of the 45th POTUS; Originally composed via DonaldJTrump.com/Desk." It also made it clear that the account wasn't affiliated with Trump.

Even though the Tweets likely weren't from Trump himself, Twitter decided to ban the account. In a statement to Zadrozny, a Twitter spokesperson said: "As stated in our ban evasion policy, we'll take enforcement action on accounts whose apparent intent is to replace or promote content affiliated with a suspended account."

In other words, any accounts that are dedicated to reposting content by Trump (or any other banned accounts), will also be banned.

@DJTDesk wasn't the only account that was removed for ban evasion. Similar accounts dedicated to posting updates from Trump were also banned, including @DJTrumpDesk, @DeskofDJT, as well as @DeskOfTrump1.

However, users can still post links to Trump's blog posts on Twitter—the platform is just raising an issue with accounts that revolve entirely around his blog.

Trump's Ban Affects More Than Just Trump

Twitter banned Trump in January 2021 after the platform alleged that Trump's Tweets incited violence during the riots at the Capitol. Instagram and Facebook subsequently suspended Trump as well, and Facebook's Oversight Board ruled to uphold this decision.

In an effort to re-establish a social audience, Trump created his own blog. Trump hinted at creating his own social network, but his new site is far from that.

It's a platform for Trump—and only Trump—to speak, as users can merely just share his posts, and can't even comment on them. It'll be interesting to see how the site evolves, and if it'll really become the social network that it was supposed to be.

Can Trump's New Blog Trump Big Tech?

Trump is waging a war against tech giants, and his new blog is his first step in fighting against his bans. But the real question is: will Trump's blog reach as large of an audience that he hopes for?

The blog is still fairly new, and Trump appears to be making posts on the daily—but it could definitely use more interactive features if Trump intends to attract more users.
