Using µTorrent 2.2.1 I download torrents. Using Windows DVD Maker I burn them to DVD RW. Half the time the DVDs have no audio, but the torrent, if played directly from the torrent does.

Is there a simple solution to fixing this?

I would suggest using alternative DVD burning software. Check out some alternatives on our Best Windows Software page, under CD/DVD Tools. http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/best-windows-software

Disable other Third Party Burn Software if any.Codec installation packagehttp://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=507You can check the sound settings in the movie maker.Adjust the volume of each audio clip individually by doing the following:On the Audio or Audio/Music track of the timeline, select the audio clip whose volume you want to adjust.1. Click Clip, point to Audio, and then click Volume. 2. To adjust the volume, do one of the following: 3. To reduce the volume, slide the Audio volume level slider to the left.4. To increase the volume, slide the Audio volume level slider to the right.5. To mute the clip, select the Mute clip check box.6. To reset the volume to the original volume, click Reset.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Adjusting-audio-in-Windows-Movie-Maker-frequently-asked-questionsDownload the free Divx player and see if this helpshttp://www.divx.com/

It sounds like Windows Movie Maker isn't supporting the audio codecs. Is there a pattern of audio-less file types? (i.e .avi doesn't work but .wmv does)If it's true that Windows Movie Maker simply doesn't support the codec, try using another burner. In windows, I would use Cheetah DVD Burner or DVD Flick . Both work really well.
