In the midst of a legal battle between TikTok and the US government, TikTok has launched a site to combat misinformation.

In essence, TikTok's new information hub is an attempt to discredit US President Donald Trump's claim that TikTok is a national security risk.

TikTok Tries to Turn Transparent

The goal of TikTok's information hub is to "set the record straight." This means disproving the "unfounded" claims that TikTok poses a threat to the privacy and security of its users.

TikTok Information Hub Site

On the front page of the site, TikTok responds to the allegations that the China-based company is stealing US user data and relaying it to the Chinese government, claiming:

TikTok is not available in China. Its US user data is stored in Virginia with a back-up in Singapore and strict controls on employee access. TikTok has never provided any US user data to the Chinese government, nor would it do so if asked. Any insinuation to the contrary is unfounded and blatantly false.

Even after TikTok was allegedly caught stealing information from Android devices, TikTok is adamant that it's innocent. The rest of the site pushes the same pro-TikTok agenda.

As you continue to navigate TikTok's information hub, you can read official statements on topics like misinformation, election interference, app security, and transparency. TikTok even addresses the executive order put in place by President Trump, saying:

We will pursue all remedies available to us in order to ensure that the rule of law is not discarded and that our company and our users are treated fairly.

Under the Expert Opinions tab, you can click on articles from credible sources that support TikTok's cause. You'll also find an in-depth FAQ that answers any burning questions about TikTok's practices.

To supplement the launch of the new site, TikTok has also created an accompanying Twitter account, @TikTok_Comms. It provides news and updates regarding TikTok, and tries to portray the app in a more positive light.

Is This Enough to Save TikTok?

TikTok's new information hub is an attempt to make the inner workings of TikTok more transparent. However, this attempt might be too little too late. Especially as the app is already firmly in the sights of President Trump. Still, for now, TikTok is still available to use.
