Since creators are always looking for ways to connect with fans, TikTok is hoping to make that process easier. The platform is testing out a new Q&A feature that allows creators to directly respond to fans' questions. This feature is currently only available to a select number of creators.

TikTok Streamlines Interactions With Fans

Currently, TikTok creators can only respond to fans by replying to comments, or by creating videos addressing specific questions. The new Q&A feature will make it easier for popular creators to answer the barrage of questions thrown at them daily.

Social media consultant, Matt Navarra, first spotted the Q&A feature and took to Twitter to announce his findings. The Q&A button will appear on a user's profile, allowing fans to ask questions and then wait for the creator's response via text, video, or even a live stream.

Alternatively, fans can also use the Q&A feature when leaving comments. They simply have to select the Q&A button before commenting, and their comment will be added to the creator's queue of questions.

This makes it much easier for creators to read and respond to questions. Instead of scrolling through dozens of comments, creators can have a compilation of questions in a single list. There's no limit on how many questions a creator can be asked, and creators aren't obligated to answer all of them.

Right now, only public creators with 10,000 or more followers have access to the feature. These creators have to opt-in to the test in the app's Settings menu. This feature is set to start rolling out to more creators globally in a matter of weeks.

Q&As have become an integral part of communication on social media. They keep followers engaged, and give creators a chance to directly interact with fans. That's why Stories on Instagram have quickly become a hub for Q&A sessions, while the Snapchat-integrated YOLO has become a popular way for users to ask anonymous questions.

Getting Personal on TikTok

TikTok's move to make Q&As a built-in feature on the app is a smart one. With Q&As becoming increasingly popular across all platforms, TikTok may become the go-to platform for Q&A sessions.

The platform is continuously testing and adding new features, so it's no wonder that TikTok has soared in popularity. Other platforms, like Snapchat and Instagram, have rolled out short-term video features in an attempt to compete with TikTok. As it stands, Snapchat Spotlight and Instagram Reels still have yet to knock TikTok off of its pedestal.
