Hardware manufacturer and AI interaction company Mobvoi has launched the latest version of its TicWatch smartwatch.

The TicWatch Pro 3 LTE/Cellular works with Vodafone OneNumber to let you use your existing call and data plan even when you leave your phone at home.

TicWatch Pro 3 LTE: An Actually Smart Watch?

Released today, the TicWatch Pro 3 LTE is among the first smartwatches to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform, giving performance boosts of up to 85% when needed while consuming up to 25% less power overall.

Powered by Google's Wear OS, the watch operates much like a regular smartwatch when within the Bluetooth range of your phone. Vodaphone OneNumber users, currently restricted to the UK, Spain, and Germany, can use the watch completely independently of their phones. Once you leave Bluetooth range, the watch switches to a built-in cellular system, so you'll still be able to receive notifications, stream music from the web, and even make calls.

Familiar Features on Updated Hardware

The TicWatch Pro 3 LTE features sensors for tracking your health, sleep, and workout routines, trackable via multiple apps. As it's a Wear OS watch, you'll also have access to Google's apps and services, such as Google Assistant and Google Pay.

The new Snapdragon 4100 system on chip (SoC) at the core of the new TicWatch gives better performance than the last generation of smartwatches, but what most users will likely find more exciting is the improvements the new silicon brings. Mobvoi claims up to 72 hours of battery life, though it isn't clear under what use cases that number is based on.

The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 LTE will be available December 1, 2020, in the Mobvoi store, along with Amazon and some Vodaphone affiliated websites.

The Dawn of Cellular Smartwatches

Fitness tracking is high on the agenda for smart devices currently. The recent update to Amazon Echo Buds added workout-tracking, but it still relies on a connected smartphone to use the feature.

Smartwatches that can work independently of smartphones are one of the most anticipated advances in the world of connected personal fitness and life tracking devices. The TicWatch 3 Pro LTE will be an exciting prospect to those looking to untether themselves from carrying an expensive smartphone while going about daily tasks and exercise.
