TCL has provided a new software update to its Google TV-powered televisions for performance issues in early December 2021. With the new update, TCL claims the performance and software issues that had affected the Google TV lineup have been fixed.

Here's everything you need to know.

TCL Fixes Performance Issus on Its Google TV Lineup

The 5-Series and 6-Series TCL TVs powered by Google TV, which Best Buy exclusively sells, were yanked from the shelves following complaints from early adopters over performance issues.

But the lineup is now back on sale after TCL pushed a software update that the company says irons out the issues. So if you've been waiting to jump on TCL's 5-Series and 6-Series Google TV-powered televisions, now might be a good time to do so.

If you were experiencing the same issues on your Google TV-powered TCL television, you should update to the latest software version.

Although TCL says its Google TV sets should update automatically in the background, you can still check to ensure you're using the latest update. Here's how to manually check for the update:

  1. Ensure you've connected your TV to the internet.
  2. Press the Settings button on your remote to open a panel on the right side of the TV display.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Next, go to System > About > System update.
  5. Finally, select Network Update.

You'll see a Software Update message box if an update is available. In that case, follow the onscreen instruction to update your TV software. If you can't see the Software Update message box, that means your TV is running the latest version.
