Kannon Yamada 16-01-2014

This week we’ve got the return of the XtremeGuard 85% off sale as well as low prices on a DSLR, iPhone 5s and more.

Smartphone Users

Smartphone users will rejoice when they hear that XtremeGuard’s 85% sale is back on. And you can also score an iPhone 5 unlocked for cheap!

XtremeGuard 85% Off All Screen Protectors

  • Price: 85% all protectors
  • Retailer: XtremeGuard
  • Coupon code: 85OFF

This deal showed up two weeks back. If you missed it, I strongly consider getting in while it lasts. I consider XtremeGuard to be roughly comparable to Zagg, in terms of quality. Their protectors use the “wet-apply” method and covers a very wide range of devices. I own about a half-dozen Android gadgets – XtremeGuard offered protectors for all of these.

In case you don’t know how to use a wet-apply screen protector, here’s a video demonstrating how it’s done:

Always remember to turn your device off. Water is conductive and if it gets on your circuit board, it can cause a fatal short. Furthermore, remember to sponge off residual droplets of soap water, as you apply the protector. Then leave the device off for at least 12-hours (24 reccomended).

For tips on how to install other kinds of screen protectors The Best Way To Apply a Screen Protector To Your Phone Or Tablet Have you ever seen someone’s phone with a giant bubble in the middle between the screen protector and the screen? Perhaps you’ve been that person or are trying not to be that person. Whether you... Read More , check out our article on the subject. Personally, I prefer the “hotdog” application method.

  • Price: $119.99; compare to $179.99 from Amazon (new)
  • Retailer: Newegg via eBay

The first edition Nexus 7 tablet includes the Tegra 3 chipset, which although dated, has held up quite well over the past two years. While this particular model ships with Android Jelly Bean, it’s upgradable to the very latest version of Android (4.4). We actually reviewed the original Nexus 7 Google Nexus 7 (16GB) Android Tablet Review and Giveaway We purchased a 16GB Nexus 7 for $249 which I've been reviewing for a week or so now, and I've really grown to love the little thing. This week we’ve got one great monitor that is steeply discounted.

HP Pavilion 25xi 25-inch Monitor

hp pavilion 25xi

  • Price: $159.99; compare to $279.99 MSRP
  • Retailer: Newegg

This 1080p monitor is part of Newegg’s Shell Shocker promotion, which typically lasts for 48 hours, so there’s one more day left on this deal. In terms of the price, 25-inch IPS monitors in general cost around $10 per inch. By any measure, this is a good deal.

This week I found a DSLR on eBay for a very low price.

Nikon D3200 24.2 MP DSLR + 18-55mm VR Lens (Refurbished)

nikon d3200

  • Price: $359.99; compare to $596.95 at Target
  • Retailer: eBay via Buydig

The Nikon D3200 normally retails (with a lens kit) for $596.95 at Target. This represents a rather large 39% savings. It includes a 90-day warranty and an 18-55 VR lens.

The D3200 is actually an extraordinarily well-reviewed DSLR and its current price means it will sell out very rapidly.

The XtremeGuard sale is just too good to pass up. If you own a large number of tablets and smartphones, now is a great time to fit all of them for protectors. Another great deal is the Nikon D3200. I recently upgraded from a point-and-shoot to a DSLR and the difference is quite amazing.

That’s it for this week! Check back next week for more low-priced tablets, smartphones, laptops and more!

Xtremeguard screen and body protectors work quite nicely, and stays put until one wants to take it off. They aren't glass-smooth, and can have a slight sticky feel (like on vinyl seat covers), but not enough where it isn't usable. In order to be self-healing, they have to be softer.

If you miss this deal, they have revolving sales all the time. It starts off with 90% off of 2, 85% off, 70% off, then 85-90% off Apple products, and then 85-90% off Samsung products. If you go to the site and there isn't a sale going on, wait a few days or Google search for Xtremeguard sale. With as many sales they have, one should never have to pay full price for it.
