Wondering when each iteration of the PlayStation and Xbox launched? Sometimes it's crazy to look back and see how much time has passed since the consoles of yesteryear (or even modern systems).

Let's take a journey back in time and see when each console released. All years given are for the North American launches. Dates may vary in other regions.

When Did the PlayStation 4 Come Out?

The PS4 launched on November 15, 2013. The PS4 Slim revision replaced this on September 15, 2016. Sony's more powerful PS4 Pro (our review) came out on November 10, 2016.

When Did the PlayStation 3 Come Out?

The original PS3 came out on November 17, 2006. A revised PS3 Slim replaced it on September 1, 2009. And the final revision, the Super Slim model, became available on September 25, 2012.

When Did the Xbox One Come Out?

Microsoft launched the original Xbox One on November 22, 2013. The redesigned Xbox One S came to town on August 2, 2016. And the Xbox One X (our review), the most powerful console ever made, launched on November 7, 2017.

When Did the Xbox 360 Come Out?

The original Xbox 360 launched on November 22, 2005. Its revamped and slimmed model, the Xbox 360 S, came around on June 18, 2010. And on June 10, 2013, Microsoft released the Xbox 360 E, which looks quite similar to the original Xbox One.

When Did the First Xbox Come Out?

Microsoft's debut console, the Xbox, launched on November 15, 2001. Though the controller underwent a major revision, there was never a slim console revamp for the Xbox.
