From intelligent light bulbs to connected thermostats, our homes are rapidly becoming smarter. The Amazon Echo lets you take control of these devices with your voice, even from another room. You can also stay connected with your online world and listen to music. Here’s your chance to win an Amazon Echo and a bundle of great smart home equipment.

The Prize

It feels like Star Trek, but the Amazon Echo really does bring total voice control to your home. The hub connects to most smart home devices, along with online services such as IFTTT and Spotify. It means you can simply ask Alexa, Amazon’s intelligent virtual assistant, to adjust the lights for you. Through the Echo’s 360-degree speaker, she can also answer questions, forecast the weather, read out audiobooks, or put on your favorite radio station.

To go with the Echo, the winner of this giveaway will receive an impressive pile of smart home kit. The Skybell Wi-Fi Video Doorbell lets you see live video of your front doorstep and speak to the delivery guy, all from an app on your phone. You can make any device smart by plugging it into the We-Mo Switch, and the Philips Hue White Starter Kit brings intelligent lighting to your home. Finally, the Nest Thermostat should keep you comfortable and reduce your bills.

    Hi James,

Just wanted to thank you for the guide, with your help I now can remotely remote control my Projector Screen and continue my journey to automate all the things!

If any other readers suffering restarting issues make sure you use enough power, failure to do so results in it constantly restarting. Ended up using a breadboard 3.3/5v power supply and a cheap plug from amazon.
