Creating motion graphics and animations usually involves some expensive desktop software, a good idea of what you’re doing and time to create the product. This is usually fine for those looking to create professional videos for their business or as a career choice, but for the everyman there’s not a lot of alternatives. One such solution to the problem may come in the form of Wideo, a simple way of creating animated videos.
The service uses Adobe Flash to create simple animations with text, shapes and in-built characters. By using keyframes, it’s possible to move elements around the screen, zoom and change other attributes. There is also built-in functionality for uploading your own images from your computer if you so desire. Animations are defined using the timeline at the bottom of the screen, and to keep things tidy, each animation can contain a number of scenes.
The results aren’t exactly professional, but you probably won’t spend more than ten minutes creating an animation that does and says what you want it to. There is branding in the top-right corner and all new videos are added to the public pool. The service is still in beta, so bear that in mind if you’re experiencing any issues.
