    We go from green (or amber or blue) monochrome screens to 24-bit True Color in around 20 years...and the best thing designers can do with it is make everything flat and monochrome again. Pfeh.

      You assume all design is for monitors. Print has always been able to reproduce huge numbers of colours and full colour imagery. So embracing flat colours is simply another, strong and visually arresting, trend for print.
