Reddit is a great platform to learn new things and feel part of communities based on your interests. Unfortunately, there's also a lot of spam or low-tier content.

From keyboard shortcuts to URL tricks, there are a lot of ways you can get through the ton of time-wasting posts on Reddit you know you don't want to miss and get back to doing other things.

1. Update Your Reddit Settings

Updating your preferences on Reddit can make all the difference in how you find the browsing experience on the platform. You can change the way Reddit sorts the feed, the text and thumbnail sizes, the default view (Card, Classic, or Compact), and much more via your user settings.

Play around with different views and preferences until you get the one that works the best for you. There are so many ways you can customize your Reddit home feed to improve how easy it is for you to browse.

2. Skip Around Comments and Posts on Reddit

Reddit Enhancement Suite, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera, has a ton of cool keyboard shortcuts and features that will make it easy to browse Reddit even faster. These features include:

  • Show or hide images with the keyboard shortcut Shift + X.
  • Move to the next post or comment with the keyboard shortcut J, and move to the previous comment with the keyboard shortcut K.
  • Skip to the end of the subreddit or Reddit page with the keyboard shortcut Shift + J, and jump to the top of the page with the keyboard shortcut Shift + K.
  • Toggle comments on any post open with the keyboard shortcut C.
  • Skip back to a parent comment with the keyboard shortcut P.
  • Upvote comments with the keyboard shortcut A, and downvote a comment with the keyboard shortcut Z.

There's plenty this handy community-driven Reddit extension can do to make your Reddit experience better.

3. Create Multireddits to Streamline Your Scrolling

A native feature that doesn't require any additional extensions is the ability to combine subreddits into one master feed. The easiest way to do this on the web version is to add + at the end of the URL for each subreddit you want to be part of the feed.

Say, for instance, you wanted to combine multiple sports-related subreddits, then you'd simply type in www.reddit.com/r/soccer+basketball/ to create a page full of posts from these two subreddits. You can add more than two subreddits as well; it just depends on how many subreddits you want to include.

You can also create a custom feed by going onto the subreddit, clicking the ellipsis, and clicking Add to Custom Feed.

You can find your custom feeds by clicking Home on the front page and then accessing it. You can make as many custom feeds as you want and can access them the same way.

This feature on Reddit makes it very easy for you to keep track of lots of different subreddits, meaning that you never miss out on the posts and communities you want to keep on top of.
