Kittens, puppies, bunnies, and monkeys, oh my! Amidst how-to posts, serious updates and cutting-edge websites, maybe what your desktop needs is some extra cuteness. Then again, if incredibly cute wallpapers aren’t up your alley, perhaps your significant other could appreciate them (and understand why you spend so much time on MakeUseOf!).
I’ve scoured Flickr and DeviantArt in search of animal art, and found some amazingly fuzzy friends, including two that would love to grace your smartphone.
comes from DeviantArt creator Episode with a petulant look that basically says, “Carrot NOW!” – or that’s what it says to me, at least. Nice use of white space, and plenty of room for your icons.
Cat With Cam Selective Color by ChrisHateZ is not an entirely original creation: The source image was taken by another, by ChrisHateZ did a very nice job of photoshopping it so that it pops out right at you. Priceless, really.
Staffordshire Puppy by Takacica shows a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (as far as I was able to tell, at least), and it’s just… mega-cute. That’s the scientific term for it, I believe. Bull terriers aren’t known as the most adorable pets, but this puppy is giving the camera an excellent “awwww” look.
X Marks the Spot
X Marks the Spot by Sergiu Baciouiu is almost too cute, but I decided to include it because of the nice match between the background and the color of the eyes. Cute overload!
Meow Man is another shot by Sergiu Bacioiu – what can I say, Sergiu seems to have a firm grip of the concept of cuteness. Sergiu tells us he used two soft boxes to get the right lighting for this shot, and it worked well: The details come through quite nicely, and even the dark tail preserves some nice texture. This wallpaper works only if you like light backgrounds, as the glare can be a bit intense.
If you’re not into light backgrounds, you may appreciate Parfait by creator meantux. This is regal fluff at its best, and again, leaves plenty of room for your icons.
Wait, this one isn’t a cat! This isby nishant2110. I’ve never owned a bunny myself, but this thing is seriously cuddly.
And we’re back to felines! Yes, that little furball is a cat – a Sweet Cat, if you want to be particular about it. Anyone who’s ever cuddled a little kitty knows it’s one of the most adorable things in the known universe, and this shot by Layanti captures the essence of that feeling, at least for me.
Mobile Wallpaper: Fur Coat
Mobile Wallpaper: Square Monkey
This beautiful square monkey wallpaper comes to us from Israeli creator Ron Nadel, working under the alias Sherbet Lemon. It is one of a series of square animal wallpaper by Sherbet Lemon, so if you like the style but don’t like monkeys, you should check out the entire set.
So, pick one (or a few) and tell us which one gets the opportunity to grace your desktop or smartphone screen? Any other choice – tell us that too.
