This is a very troubling topic. Anyone who uses their life identity as their internet identity is absolutely foolish for so many obvious and important reasons that I wonder why it is even discussed. For the simplest, my real name leads trivially to my real location. Is it not absolutely obvious why I wouldn't want that to be easy to ascertain on a medium with as many crazies and fraudsters as the interne hosts? I speak from terrifying experience.

Facebook's efforts to stem this are simply terrifying. No one should knuckle under to their heavy hand. If they try to force your hand, leave them well behind. Nothing about them is worth the real life dangers and liabilities they are attempting to impose.
