Oh no, you’re not a WhatsApp user, are you? That’s so 2012. You need to start using Telegram right now.
It’s much better than WhatsApp in countless ways, we’ve covered some of them in an article elsewhere on the site. And it’s not owned by one of the largest advertising companies in the world in the shape of Facebook, so that’s a big positive.
As you’d expect, Telegram is packed with little tricks that make the app even more enjoyable to use. One such feature is the ability to stop images you receive being automatically saved into your phone’s picture gallery. Let’s take a closer look.
How to Stop Telegram Saving Images to Gallery
If you don’t want Telegram to save pictures to your phone’s gallery, just follow the simple step-by-step instructions below.
- Open the Telegram app.
- Tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper left-hand corner of the window.
- In the new menu, select Settings.
- Scroll down to the Messages section.
- Slide the toggle next to Save to gallery into the Off position.
Unlike WhatsApp (which blurs images when you disable automatic download), you will still be able to see Telegram images on the screen in all their glory.
If you’d like to save a picture to your gallery, open the image and click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner. In the pop-up menu, choose Save to gallery.
Do you use Telegram or are you still stuck in the past with WhatsApp? And if you do use Telegram, how do you manage incoming images?
