Spoon: Run Desktop Applications in Browser

abhijeet 24-10-2010

Spoon is a virtualization tool for Windows that lets you run desktop apps like Skype and Google Talk from the browser. You would need to install their browser plugin first in order to run the apps. Once that’s done, you can run any program that’s available in their directory, right from your browser.

Unlike other virtualization tools which require you to install an OS, Spoon uses features from the existing operating system to virtualize the apps.

The good thing about Spoon’s app library is that it has a big collection of popular apps, neatly organized into categories like browsers, productivity, office suites and many more. It also has a number of games that one doesn’t need to install in order to play. An impressive tool overall.

  • Browser based virtualization tool.
  • Run popular desktop apps and games from the browser.

I love Spoon! At my workplace, some applications can't be installed on the computers or a flash drive and this works out great! I can even play Half-Life in my free time!
