Smartphone screenshots are great for sharing a quick snapshot of what’s on your phone screen. But they fall short in more demanding scenarios such as troubleshooting, creating instructional guides, or collaborating with far-away friends. Luckily, live screen sharing apps are not restricted to just computers.

You can easily broadcast your phone’s screen to someone else using the right app. Here are the best screen sharing apps for Android and iOS that you can use to share your phone screen.

1. Zoom: The Best Screen Sharing App

Since experiencing impressive growth from its launch in 2013, Zoom has become the most widely used video conferencing tool, with the word “Zoom” now used synonymously with video calls.

Zoom is considered the best mobile screen sharing app because it works across all OS platforms—both on computers and mobile devices—and allows participants to directly connect to a Zoom meeting using their web browsers.

However, screen sharing capabilities depend on the plan. Only the host can screen-share on basic Zoom accounts, while any participant can screen-share with Zoom Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts, as allowed by the host.

In the past, only one participant could screen-share in Zoom at a time. Multiple users can now screen-share simultaneously; however, only hosts using a Zoom desktop client can allow this feature.

Zoom is the preferred screen sharing app for Android and iOS because it comes with other cool group conferencing capabilities like breakout rooms, raising hands, annotations, remote desktop control, and an extensive list of third-party integrations. One major downside of the free plan is you can host unlimited meetings but only up to 40 minutes per meeting.

2. Skype: The Easiest Screen Sharing App

Microsoft’s video calling platform, Skype, lets you share your computer or phone screen in a video call. The feature is accessible on all platforms, including the Android and iOS apps.

Since it’s OS-agnostic, it doesn’t matter whether the person on the receiving end is using a smartphone or a desktop, either. You can use Skype to stream your phone’s content to a desktop or the other way around. In addition to one-on-one sessions, you can show your screen’s content in a group video call at no cost.

You must be in a meeting with at least one other person to see the screen sharing option on Skype.

Microsoft also launched MeetNow in April 2020, which allows users to join video conversations without the need to download or sign up for Skype.

Skype has a bundle of other communication tools you’ll find handy. There’s a built-in translator, which can transcribe a Skype call and conference in real-time and display subtitles in a range of different languages. Plus, you have the option to record calls and receive smart suggestions for text messages.

If you’re not familiar with the platform, our step-by-step guide on how to set up Skype should help you get up to speed in no time.

3. Microsoft Teams: The Best Screen Sharing for Teams

In the past, Microsoft Teams was only available to businesses as part of a subscription. But now, Microsoft Teams offers free chats, audio, and video calls, and gives you 5GB of personal storage (per user) for one-on-one calls. Under the free plan, group calls are capped at one hour and support up to 100 participants.

Teams can access all the perks in the free plan and subscribe for more, including 10GB of file storage per user for $4/month each under a Microsoft Teams Essentials plan. There are other plans as well for personal and business users with additional benefits.

Microsoft Teams allows you to join a meeting even without an Office 365 account. However, this free version is only available for those without a paid, commercial Microsoft 365 subscription.

If you’re on a desktop, you can easily share a window or your entire screen through your web browser, as long as you’re on Chrome or the latest version of Microsoft Edge. However, it’s best to download the app to get the best from the Android or iOS screen sharing feature in Microsoft Teams.

Unlike Zoom, Teams allows other participants and guests to share screens, even on a free account. However, guests can only screen-share during meetings if enabled by the admin. But like Zoom, Microsoft allows members to join Teams meetings without using a link. As a guest, you can join Teams through links or codes as long as the organizer allows it.

4. Google Meet: A More Secure and Accessible Option

Many users prefer Google Meet over other screen sharing apps because of its accessibility. Just open your favorite browser and head to meet.google.com—no software download necessary. Google Meet is also baked inside Gmail. These two features make it easy to create a meeting in Google Meet.

More importantly, Google Meet has been touted as a more secure video conferencing option. Not only is it only available for people with Google accounts, but it also offers superior encryption and has other security features, like “knocking”.

If you’re on a computer, you can choose to share only a tab, a window, or your entire screen similar to Skype, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. On the other hand, if you’re using this screen sharing app from your Android or iOS, you can only share your entire screen.

All Google Meet accounts, including the free ones, can share screens. During a meeting, the host can enable or disable the feature, but once allowed, any participant can share their screen. If you can’t share your Google Meet screen as a Google Workspace user, your admin has likely disabled the feature.

5. TeamViewer: Control Another Device While Screen Sharing

TeamViewer is a more advanced solution for mobile screen sharing. It’s primarily used for troubleshooting purposes. On Android, apart from broadcasting your screen, it even lets you enable the other person to control it remotely.

However, unlike Skype, TeamViewer isn’t a traditional video calling app. This means you can’t directly video chat with the recipient. Plus, its configuration is a lot more complicated than Skype, and you’re required to download multiple add-on apps.

The most straightforward way to share an Android or iOS screen through TeamViewer is with the TeamViewer QuickSupport app. This app allows you to instantly generate a unique ID for your device and share your screen without creating a TeamViewer account.

Open the app where it’s installed and tap the Send your ID button to forward a connection link through any messaging or email app. On the second phone, install the main TeamViewer client and open the link you sent. Once the sender confirms the connection, you will be able to view the shared screen.

6. join.me: Share Business Files Along With Your Screen

join.me allows you to host and join online meetings through your device with the tap of a finger. This video platform app lets you share your Android or iOS screen, your documents, your presentations, and your whiteboard. However, this app does not offer free video conferencing.

Its lowest-paid subscription costs $12 per user per month. This plan allows for an unlimited number and length of meetings and calls, and it covers calls from phones from countries around the world. The Lite plan also gives you a personalized link and background but does not allow webcam streaming. Scheduling, recording, and more participants (up to 250) are only allowed in the Business and Enterprise plans.

You don't have to pay to start using the app, though. There's a 14-day trial with no credit card required that you can use to test if it's the best screen sharing app for you.

Quickly Share Your Smartphone Screen

You no longer have to depend on static screenshots for planning a trip with your remote friends or getting help from a service center rep. These apps will allow you to easily share your phone’s screen at zero or minimum cost.

Of course, not every screen sharing app is for everyone. Depending on other included features, you may find one platform better than the other. And in case you want to pay, always give it a try before splurging.
