Do you have a lot on your plate? Sometimes the things we need to do between work and home can feel overwhelming, and nearly impossible to remember. That is where applications like Remember the Milk can save the day.
Of course, there are plenty of to-do list applications available for iPhone, so in order for one to stand out, it has to be made incredibly well and contain some great features. Remember the Milk definitely fits the bill in that regard.
Remember the Milk has almost any feature you could want from a to-do list application. It is easy to use, has a slick user interface and has plenty of options for customizing the experience to meet your needs. Even without upgrading to a pro account, the free version of the app does more than enough to be one of the best apps of its kind available to iPhone users.
To make use of Remember the Milk you will need to head to the App Store and download the free app. It is small, so you should be able to download it over your cellular network if Wi-Fi is not available.
Once you have the app downloaded, you will need to create a free account. This only takes a couple of seconds. It will require an email address, although you do not need to verify it, so you could use a fake one.
Using The App
The user interface in Remember the Milk is very slick. It has a look and feel that is similar to the slide-out menus that Facebook implemented into their newer iPhone apps. It works well for flipping back and forth between an individual task and your overall to-do list.
If you have ever used a to-do list app, you should be familiar with navigating around Remember the Milk. In a fashion very similar to Wunderlist, which I recently reviewed, everything is broken down into groups, so you can keep your work and home life separated. By default, new tasks are stored in your Inbox, but you can also add them to Personal, Work, and Study. You can also create and delete existing lists to make it better match your needs.
To create a new task, you simply need to choose the section you want to put it in and tap “Add Task.” You type in the name of the task and click “Done.” As soon as you start typing, buttons appear below the text. These allow you to add extra options such as how often it repeats, the due date, and the location.
Once you add a task, you can click on it and tap “Edit” to change some of the options after it is created. You can change the list, priority (there are three priority ranks), due date, how often it repeats, an estimate of how long it will take, and more. This app offers more customization for tasks than any I have used on iOS.
There is a search feature that allows you to find specific tasks using all kinds of queries. For people with a lot of tasks and responsibilities, this incredible feature will make you life easier.
The application is available free on the App Store, but there is a pro feature that you can purchase. It will set you back $25 for a year. It offers the following upgrades:
- Unlimited syncing between the phone and browser version. The free version grants one every 24 hours.
- View tasks on multiple devices.
- Push notifications and badges.
This is a great application for managing your tasks, and it is well worth checking out. It has more features than most of its competition, but some of them may be unnecessary for all users. It comes down to personal preference. Either way, this app is worth a shot, and it is easily one of the best apps of its kind on iOS.
