Instagram may be built around sharing photos, but the stories feature has really taken off too. If you're not familiar, stories allow you to share photos and videos, optionally adding effects and virtual stickers. They disappear after 24 hours, making them a great way to temporarily show what you're doing to your followers.

You can view stories from those you follow by tapping their icons at the top of your Instagram feed. But what if you want to download a story so you can save it?

How to Privately Download Instagram Stories

  1. Visit Storiesig.com on your PC or mobile browser.
  2. Enter the username of the person's stories you want to download. It must be an exact match of their username, so take care to enter it correctly.
  3. If that name has a match, you'll see a name and profile picture below the search box. Select it to view their stories.
  4. On the resulting page, you can play videos and view pictures. Click the Download button to save one to your computer or phone.

Note that once a story expires, you can't download it with this tool. Why would you want to do this, though? Perhaps you want to share the story on another social network, or just save a really funny/weird/interesting story for safekeeping.

There's another reason, however. Instagram recently announced that it's starting to let people know if you take a screenshot of their stories, just like Snapchat does. This means you can't save a picture of a story for safekeeping without alerting the owner.

Using this method allows you to save whatever you want without worrying about this. If you don't want to use this, you can also take a screenshot of the story while in airplane mode.
