Ho ho ho! It's that time of year again. Yes, we know it feels like you only just finished taking down all your geeky Christmas decorations after last year's festivities, but it's almost time to do it all over again.

Let's play a game: think back to last Christmas. What went wrong? What can you improve on to make sure this year's holiday season goes off with a bang?

No, you probably shouldn't burn the turkey again. And granddad definitely doesn't need any more socks. But the real answer? More Christmassy party invites, agendas, cooking schedules, and menus. And for that, you're going to need some Christmas-themed Microsoft Office templates.

Not sure where to look? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are five places where can find all the Rudolph, Santa, and baby Jesus templates you could wish for.

1. Microsoft Office Christmas Templates

Before you even consider using third-party sites, you should check out Microsoft Office's own library of free Christmas templates.

To see what's available, fire up one of the Microsoft Office apps and go to File > New. You will see a template search box at the top of the window. Enter your search term and press Enter.

Remember, your search doesn't need to be as generic as "Christmas." You can try more niche terms like "sleigh," "manger," or "three wise men" and see what pops up.

To use one of the designs, click on the template and select Create.

Of course, using Microsoft Office's free Christmas templates does have a downside. They are the most readily available and require the least effort to use. Therefore, on Christmas morning, you might discover that your fancy gift labels look exactly the same as Auntie Mary's.

2. Kingsoft Store

The Kingsoft Store is a good place to look for PowerPoint Christmas templates. There are 40 templates you can download and use for free. They're great for adding a touch of cheer to presentations or bringing a smile to a family photo slideshow.

Despite there only being 40, the Christmas templates have good variation. You'll find everything from abstract Christmas trees and psychedelic Santas to traditional wintery townscapes and roaring fires.

Downloading one of the files is simple, just click on file's name below the picture. A PPT file will save to your machine. You can open it like any other PowerPoint file.

Each template comes with four slides, each of which has a different layout. You can see an example in the image above.

Interestingly, the Kingsoft Store also offers New Year's Eve templates, thus letting you wow your audiences with an impressive combo.

3. Hloom Christmas Printables

Hloom offers its Christmas templates in DOC format. All the templates are designed to be used as "Christmas flyers." They make great party invitations but are also a perfect way to promote your business during the holiday season.

As with the templates on Kingsoft Store, there's a good range of designs to choose from. Some are sleek and modern while others offer more authentic imagery. There are 43 designs in total.

Once you've settled on the flyer you want, click the Download button. Then, on the next screen, click on Free.

A DOC file will be downloaded. Once it's finished, open it in Microsoft Word and make your edits.

Note: Remember, if you're trying to promote your business, your flyer needs four critical pieces of content: a title, a description, a call-to-action, and contact details.

4. Template.net

Microsoft Office isn't just about Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. One of the suite's best apps is Outlook.

And, behind Word, Outlook is probably the ripest app for a Christmas makeover. Instead of a bland black-on-white annual update, you can dazzle your family members with a fantastically Christmassy newsletter instead.

The Outlook Christmas templates all use HTML, so before using them, you'll need to make some changes in the app. Open the software and go to File > Options > Mail > Compose messages > Compose messages in this message format > HTML.

Great, now it's time to grab the templates. Sadly, a lot of HTML templates require payment. Template.net offers 38 in total and about half of them are free. The ones you have to pay for cost little more than $5.

5. Office Templates Online

The least sexy Office app for Christmas templates is Microsoft Excel, but that doesn't mean you should overlook it. In fact, it's arguably the most important app in the suite -- if you utilize all its features, it's the perfect Christmas planning tool.

If you're using Excel to organize your festive experience, there's no need to settle for monotonous cells and layouts. You can still inject some yuletide cheer.

One of the best sites for Christmas-themed spreadsheets is Offline Templates Online. It offers six files that'll help Christmas go off without a hitch. They are Christmas Gift List Template, Xmas Food List Template, Christmas Baking/Cooking List, Christmas Songs List, Who Gets What List Template, and What Happens When List Template.

Each of the templates is adorned with the usual fare of Santa imagery, Christmas trees, reindeer, and baubles.

Best of all, all the templates are pre-populated with data to give you a head start. If you use all six templates combined, it's an excellent way to make sure you don't overlook anything.

To grab the templates, just click the Download link below the file you want. As with the other templates on this list, you can open them directly with the Excel app once they are saved on your machine.
